Should I wait til March 31?
I am very anxious to buy my new G35 because I just sold my old car and am ready to go to the dealer this weekend. Do you think that there will be a drastic difference if I wait til the 31st to purchase the car being that it is the end of the quarter? Will I have more power to haggle and secure a better deal or should I just say screw it and get it now. I've been waiting forever to go to the dealer and pick up the car. Any and all opinions would be great. Thanks again!
I'm in the same situation as you. I recently sold my car and now shopping for a new G35c. Unless you know exactly what you want and it's currently available, I would go to the dealership to test drive and check their inventory.
Go shopping, just don't let them know what you just told us. I'd wait until the end of the month, or the last week and pray for rain, always easier that way. Some guys up north are getting them for just a few hundred over invoice! You could always get them bidding for you to buy at their dealership over the computer as well. Good luck on the car!
Nissan/Inifniti is aiming to sell 1 million vehicles by March 31st (In FY04: from April 04-March 05). This is because their fiscal year ends on March 31st, and this is a goal of theirs.
They're getting close, and every sale counts. So, my recommendation is go drive one, and if you find one you like, haggle, and wait. Use time to YOUR advantage. The closer it gets to the 31st, the more edgy the saleman is gonna get, and the more motivated s/he will be to sell. I'm just guessing, because Nissan dealers right now have ALOT of pressure on them to sell this month, so my guess is the Infiniti side is feeling the same pressure.
The goal for them to give you a good deal will probably be you signing on the dotted line on or before the 31st, so don't be surprised if they're pushy about it.
They'll brush this 1 milliion vehicle thing off, so I recommend not mentioning it to them. Use inside knowledge to YOUR advantage.
Just my $0.02

I agree....wait it out... It won't hurt to go look before hand and have a solid idea of what you want that way when you go in on the 31st its all business. if you are motivated to buy, they will be motivated to sell. I bought my car in a similar fashion...I went a day or 2 befor ethe ned of the mont....in a SNOW STORM. The dealer looked ouyt the window and said, well I know you want to buy and we wnat to sell cuz we hafta pay another tax if this car is on the lot past tomorrow...the rest is history. they gave me the deal i was looking for. Walked out paying under 30k (taxes and all) for an 03 with every option including nav and premium
I know a few car salesmen; sometimes you can get a deal on the 31st sometimes you can't. Basically the car salesmen will be more than excited to sell it, but the sales manager might not want to budge. It can be random. Also note that they will want you to take something off the lot; if you want to order a car your going to loose a lot of the advantage you had with the sales manager on the 31st. My salesmen friends tell me to go ahead and try to work out a deal during a slow day during the middle of the week right now. If they don't offer anything you feel is good enough you can try to go back on the 31st. At the end of the day people tend to get pretty much the same deal + or - a few hundred assuming you negotiate.
Car salesmen and managers tend to work day by day, so a really slow day in the middle of the week can be often just as good as the end of the month.
