Rear diff fluid?
Rear diff fluid?
I plan on replacing my rear-diff fluid. I have a non LSD g35c. Anyone have a part # or know where I can order the fluid? I am assuming you have to use nissan spec fluid.

The G35's with the 18in wheel package (like mine) have a VLSD which has its own separate fluid. Thus you can use the same stuff in both cases (LSD and non-LSD). I changed to Redline 75w90 at 1500mi and felt an immediate improvement on cold mornings. With the OEM fluid it felt like I was towing something until it warmed up, now it runs like butter
I did alot of research and the general consensus was that Redline and Amsoil have the best diff. oils.

So the 2003-2004 with 18s have the limited slip rear, but on the 05s you have to have the "sport tuned suspension" with 19s?

I saw you have an '03 G35. The simplest answer was if you have 18's you have LSD. What else do you want?
The Nissan spec for diff fluid is 80W-90 API GL-5. If you don't have the LSD, then you have no special requirements for diff fluid other than the Nissan spec. There are several good ones on the market including:
Dino:
- Shell Spirax 80W-90 API GL-5
Synthetic:
- Royal Purple Max Gear 75W-90 API GL-5 certified (can also be put in the tranny since it meets GL-4 ratings as well so as not to wear out the softer synchros) - this is great stuff and can be bought online
- Redline 75W-90 Gear oil (also great stuff) but don't use it in the tranny! API GL-5 certified
- Amsoil 75W-90 Gear oil (good stuff; meets API specs but is not actually API certified, AFAIK)

After talking to several dealers, I am only going to put OEM fluid in the tranny...just too important to mess with it.
Seperate question.....do I have anything to worry about having a 75W-90 in the differential, since specs require 80W-90?
What is the difference in the 5 points?
