Hello everyone...I am new to the forum and don't own a G35 yet, but I will soon. I am coming from an '01 Acura TL (and their forum) and was wondering if I could get some of your thoughts on pros and cons of the G35. I am going to buy a 6MT with Navi when I can sell my TL. I just sold my second vehicle (03 Frontier) on E-bay last night, so one down, one to go. My concerns are that some of the luxury feel will be lost with G35 versus the TL. That the ride will be a lot rougher and not quite as quiet inside. I have test driven an 04 IP 6MT Navi that is for sale near here, but they are asking a little much and the front bumper has been scraped on the bottom (both sides) and needs repair/repaint. From the test drive, I fell in love with growl of the motor and the solid feel, but I drove only on a smoothe highway. Was wondering what the G35 feels like on rougher roads. Also, anyone have any warranty issues or problems with dealer covering warranty issues? Any feedback welcome. Thanks in advance. And sorry if this stuff has been covered before, but wanted to hear from some of you current members.

Basically, IMO...the bottom line is that the G is a sports-coupe with some luxury flavor though not perfect. It's focus is to balance the combination of performance and luxury, so there will be sacrifices at both ends.
The G is nothing like the TL...as you said it is a bit rough and not as quiet. It comes down to whether or not you want to spend money on "balance" of both worlds or just more luxury/high tech. I always tell myself that I can always get a nice luxury car to cruise around when I get a lil' older, those cars will always be there...luxury sport-coupes come and go. The G is the only luxury sport-coupe in its class that I would really consider, it has enough of the luxury feel for me
Again, it all comes down to what you're looking for.
Also, I don't think the G is THAT rough on rough roads...but then again I'm use to stiff suspensions.

Well put Skylineg33 i agree with him 100%. As for me im used to normal suspensions and the G rides a lil rough for me. But if it wasnt for the roughness the G wouldnt turn as good as it dose. I drive my sis's 323i around sometimes and I like how smooth it rides but for some reason i dont like how it feels taking a sharp turn, on the other hand i like how the G feels on a sharp turn. As for warranty i had a problem with my "low tire pressure" sensor on one of my wheels and the dealer took care of it pretty well meaning "NO CHARGE"
I agree with the previous posts the G is essentialy a sports car, where as the TL is a luxury car. As far as rough roads, I drive mine on a few dirt roads daily and it as smooth as my bosses new 05 Mercedes s320 so I wouldn't worry abou the ride, besides inless you have to why would you take a nice g35 on really rough road or any car for that matter.

The G is perfect absolutely no flaws, it rides like a cadillac on the dirt, and the suspension is as tight as a PORSCHE on the turns. Its everything and more. I make excuses to take my G out for a drive. I used to hate to drive, now i beg to drive more.
GET ONE, you wont be sorry....I promise.

I got rid of an '01 BMW 540i. The ride in the G35 coupe is comparable to that ride in that any car running on tires lower than 40 is going to pick up more road noise but give a little more road "feel" to the car. With the G35, you get a lower center of gravity and consequently a better cornering car. The 540i had aftermarket (DINAN) sway bars, aftermarket suspension as well as front and rear strut tower braces, and the G35 corners (IMHO) as good as the BMW that had $thousands$ in aftermarket suspension.
If that is what you are looking for (a luxury sports coupe) then look no further than the G35.

Thanks for everyone's input so far....keep it coming.
I just got rid of my '01 CL, pretty much the same thing but mine was a Type S....ride quality is the same between the CL and the G35, except the G35 handles way better. I actually feel like i got a luxury upgrade when i bought my G35, though i do own a '05 which has the nicer interior.
On rough roads it is kinda bumpy, buts its a sports coupe, its made to handle, not made to make you feel good. The TL-P (what you had) is a little bit of a softer ride than the S version, so you will feel more bumps, but the good definitely outweighs the bad.

Im selling my '04 Acura TSX to my cousin this week and jumping into my '05 DG coupe hopefully this Friday, cant believe it. Ive had a Legend, '98 TL, '02 Acura RL, and now a TSX so i have been in the acura family for some time. Now we all need a step up and a change once in a while and the G35 is a big step up. Plus the girls have hots for it!
I thought I was down grading when it came to the interior with the G35 but I was totally wrong. The '05 interior is shockingly more luxurious than my Acuras ive had. The leather and console materials are of higher quality and can be noticed immediately when you sit in it. You have to get the new 7in. Navigation if your getting the '05 though thats a must. Automatically pops up

It's supposed to be a dedicated track car. If you're willing to spend near $35 or $40k then pick up an EVO MR for him. 6 speed and all the amenities (all the few amenities) that Mitsu offers. in my opinion, the EVO is the hardest (most technical) to drive, but by far the most fun you can have in a car (with your clothes on). The G is beautiful and offers nicer accomodations and more power than the RX8 by far.
either way, you've got a lucky kid. let us know what you choose
