please read...dealer experience today...

So I took my car in becaes my fuel efficiency is getting horrible..my fuel light came on at 185 miles and I get about 13-14 mpg. They said it was because of my pop charger and want to charge me 95 because of the diagnostic and the fact I had the modified intake. Can they do that? They said the fuel/air readings were 107% and 102%. Is that bad enough to give me such poor gas mileage? Should I just take the intake off? They also wanted to charge me 250 to clean the throttle body and reset the ECU. Let me know your thoughts.

Sounds like your dealer is ripping you off. Why would they charge you $95 for a diagnostic that takes 20 minutes via the Consult? And $250 to clean the throttle body and reset the ECU? Good lord. Cleaning the throttle body is about 30 min. of work, tops, and the ECU reset is about 2 minutes. I would take it to another dealer. In the meantime, try an ECU reset yourself and see if that helps any. I can believe that your fuel/air would be off because of the pop charger, but the ECU should be adjusting by itself. A reset might correct that.

yea it didn't sound fair to me at all...especially when they said they would waive the 95$ fee if i went for the $250 cleaning and reset.

There is no need for you to pay $250 for a "cleaning" and a reset. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother resetting your ECU, as it will adjust.

And no offense, but you should have know that they will blame it on aftermarket parts if they get the chance. They prob just took one look at your engine bay and descided that was the problem.

usually the car will run leaner with pop chargers..hummm.. I would just put the
stock filter back on and see if it improves anything. If not, then take it to the
dealer with the stockbox on it.
