i put my deposit for a coupe arriving in July...but i thought production had stopped..??..is dealer lying..?
how would the dealer know exactly which coupes they would be getting in july..?
when should i be getting a VIN number or a control number..??
i'm just so nervous...i can't wait..!!..what if they don't get any in july..??

 

custom orders go like this:

1) Order the coupe, it will be processed and allocation will be sent to Infiniti headquarters in the first week of the next month. Once this happens, you should call and request an order#

2) Now, 2 months later, or 1 month before your car arrives, you should call and request you VIN# so that you can start shopping around for insurance rates.

3) Wait 1 more month!

So it takes about 3 months from when it is ordered by the dealership.

Dealers are given an allocation of a particular model every month. The dealer then tells Infiniti what color and specs they want on those cars if there is a customer wanting something special. For us coupe types in line for ordering, the dealer tells Infiniti what we want and, therefore, those cars are considered pre-sold. If the dealer has no preference, I suspect they get excess production or what Infiniti thinks is higher demand optioned models. My dealer gets surprise deliveries out of the blue (most with nav.) so there seems to be excess production over what the dealers get allocated. The dealer will know if and when the cutover to '04 begins. I was told in March by some dealer muckity that the first '04 delivery would be in December but I'm hearing different on the forums lately. ...dean

i didn't custom order my coupe...the dealer had a list of coupes coming in july, so i just picked the one i wanted..put a deposit on it...is this the same as ordering one..?
Rockman...are R orders july coupes..??...when did you put deposit for your coupe and how long did it take you to get the order number..?

 

OH so yours is already on order...should be no problem in getting the order# then, just call your salesman and inquire about it.
is your coupe is coming in July, then you should get your VIN about 4 weeks before your car arrives.

I ordered my DG/G 6MT Coupe w/prem. on April 12th and I got my order this past Sat. The salesman said he's had it since over a week ago. My car is a July delivery also.

Rockman, the 'R' orders were put in the first week of May. I gave them a deposit and was on a wait list for a couple of months until then. I will wait for my car in order to get the XM satellite radio and all the latest fixes for the '03s. It also gives me more time to mass up a good down payment. I didn't get any specific delivery date but suspect 2nd or 3rd week of July. I want just a little bit of summer left to enjoy it !! ...dean

I just ordered mine last Thursday. Once you get the order number, how do you track it through build/delivery?

my should be coming in on july 16...any chance they would come in earlier...??..dealer said he will give me a call when the june 6mt come in so i can test drive one...they have none on the lot...
