Non-local purchase/delivery?

Well, my '55 Chevy Bel Air 2-door Hardtop is in it's final hours on Ebay (currently at $17,350), so that means that I'll be looking to place an order (or locate) an '05 IP/Stone Coupe 6MT.

The nearest dealers are about 4 hours away, and Grubbs is about 5-6. I'd like to know if any of you ordered out of town, took care of everything by phone/fax and then had the car delivered? Basically, have any of you bought new, sight unseen? Please share your experiences if so. I'd hate to do this, but I'd like to use Grubbs and I'd hate to go to DFW and drive all the way back even more.

I'll be looking for an IP/Stone 6MT with no options, no sunroof, etc. The trunk mat and Serius were my only interests... ...but I'll ditch the Serious if I can't get the antenae mounted inside on the rear package shelf. I figure it's not going to be easy to find one without a sunroof.

Any suggestions, shared experiences, etc. would be appreciated.

I did exactly as you describe - when I made the 2.5 hour trip to pick up the car it was just to sign papers and drive away.

I did all the negotiating about price / trade / prep prior to the trip. When I showed up there were no surprises. I drove their DEMO to get a feel for the 05 (I had been shopping Gs since they were introduced) and didn't actually drive the car I intended to purchase until all my paperwork was drawn up (but no signatures affixed). I saw it for the first time the day I drove into the Dealership.

I bought my other vehicle (last year) this way and had such a good experience that I decided I would try it again with the G. It was a great success.

I really enjoyed the trip back home. Nothing like spending a few hours in your brand new G getting acquainted. Helps burn down those break in miles too! The wife and I swapped seats 4 times. LOL..

Just bought mine about 40 minutes from home to save 600 bucks. There is a dealer 2 minutes from me..and I gave him every chance to get the business. I should have no issue servicing the car at the closer dealer though, right?

Technically, no... ...but you might not be as high of a priority to them as one of their customers might be.

My '55 Bel Air sold for $21,200!! Hello VOLKS!! lol I was planning on charging the Nismo bumper and rear diffuser... ...which I'll probably still do so I can get the wheels/tires right away. Oh man... ...if I didn't need to put about $10K-$12K down for a reasonable payment... ...and if I wasn't going to lose $4K on my commuter '03 Chevy Cavalier... ...my mind would be racing with the possibilities of additional mods.

So, nobody has actually had the vehicle shipped to them sight unseen? Again, this isn't something that I'd prefer to do, but if others had good luck then I would consider it rather than making the 4 hour drive each way.
