Is the Premium Package worth it?
I am in the process of ordering a 05 BLk/GRP 6MT Coupe. I was wondering if yall think its worth it to fork out the extra 2500 or so for it. Right now I am at the edge of my budget with out the permium package, but can manage to buy it. Also I plan on installing an aftermarket stereo system in the future.
For those of you who have who have the premium package are you happy with it?
For those who dont have it, do you wish you added the premium package?

K, well besides the obvious things you get like auto headlights, auto dimming rearview mirrior and other goodies listed on the infiniti website...
I was tripping out but if you dont get the premium, I don't think that you get the two subs/speakers on the rear deck between the rear seats and rear windshield. I mean there is absolutely nothing there...not even holes or anything for upgrades. Its just flat carpeting...
Can someone validate this? I mean I saw this for my very own eyes at the dealership yesterday. So this translates that if you plan on upgrading speakers, you won't have those two in the back to even upgrade at all. It seems Infiniti wants it Bose or nothing. I mean not even stockies? My civic even has those two speaker/subs back there.

if the premium package is gonna put you over your budget then don't get it but if you can't afford the premium package, how can you afford a stereo upgrade later on? decent system is gonna cost you $1k at least with installation...
the bose isn't that great but at least it has mp3 capability... i would see if the features of the premium package will ones that you'll likely miss... if not then save your cash... i would try to get everying you want up front now so you won't have problems later, you can always put an aftermarket sound system even with the bose...

I opted for the premimum package cause i wanted all the goodies........i knew the stereo was history and the only thing left now is the HU, I have changed all the others speakers and amps..........you might want to make a list of what you want in the way of goodies and call around.........aftermarket is sometimes cheaper than factory (i purchased a DVD player for my SUV aftermarket, spent less and got a much bigger screen).....if you like music, youll not be happy with the blose system, so dont get the premium package for the sound..........IMHO
I personally like the premium package because of the 8 bose speakers, 6 disc in dash cd changer, and sliding sun roof. If you plan on upgrading your sound system with amps, upgraded speakers, subs, etc then I suggest not to purchase the premium package since those sound upgrades alone are at least $2k. Keep in mind, you won't have that sunroof.
The electronic adjusting steering wheel is something you'll set once and be done with it, if you are the only driver, so toss that out. The autodimming mirror, well you can flip your mirror on the rare occasion that you need to do this. Headlights? Just like almost every car you've owned, you'll have to turn them on yourself (imagine all the effort it takes
). The homelink thing is pretty cool, but it doesn't do anything that your garage door opener/key fob doesn't do. The sunroof is a $1k option, so $1400 for a crappy Bose stereo (the headunits in the base and premium package are the same) and the above options, is it worth it to you? I'd just order one with a sunroof and spend that $1400 on some good speakers and amps. Homelink, auto mirror/headlights and a one time use of electronic steering wheel adjustment is not worth $1400 to me. If the stereo was better it would be worth it. But think about it this way. Like many people here, if you buy this package, and you swap out speakers/add amps. You are paying for the stereo twice, doesn't that sound stupid?

Just to let you know, every single G35 that a dealer orders, is ordered with the premium package. Out of the two dealers in NJ that I visted, there was only ONE G without the premium package. I would say get it. I only wish that they had the premium package without the "upgraded" BOSE system. This system is a joke, it sounds horrible. They should have either inclued a real sound system, or not included it as an "upgrade" at all and let you save your $900.
personally i like the premium package. yeah mrb is right, on most cars you have driven you have to turn the lights on and off, but think of those times that you might have forgotten to turn your lights off and your battery dies or something....also i guess the electronic steering wheel isnt necessary and i like the autodimming lights, mainly what i do not understand is the aftermarket stereo. granted i am not one for loud music, but, do you really think it is neccessary to spend around $2k on a system that likely will have bass so loud you wont be able to hear the music and you'll have your windows and rearview mirror vibrating? my friend austin (diamondgcoupe) has 2 loud subs and his rearview mirror has broken off twice i think. i think the bose stereo is fine but if you have your heart set on getting a system then go for it and dont get the premium package.

Umm most people just want a good stereo. Long gone are the days of the minitrucks and pounding bass listening to Magic mike or whatever that guys name was. Most people that mod the audio, just want good sound, which the Bose does not provide. It's a nice car, it should have a nice stereo system. I'd be satisfied with the premium package if the stereo was on par with the looks of the car, the engine, and the handling. It's not. To me it's $1400 for the crap audio setup that I'll have to replace and some gimmicky options, that I wouldn't mind having, but don't need. Navi and premium sound can be had for a lot less than $4500 in options from Infiniti, and they'll be much better components. Hell, the damn TL comes stock with DVD surround sound audio, and it sounds damn good too! I think Homelink and all that other crap comes with the car as well without some pricey add on.
