I'm about to replace the rubber on my '04 6-speed. Is there a general consensus here about upgrading to the 255/45/18 rr, and 245/40/18 fr instead of replacing with stock sizes?

 

Yes, I replaced with those tire sizes and I have had no problems yet. I went with the Falken Ziex - a highly rated A/S tire and hope they hold up well.

 

I will be going with a dedicated high perf summer tire and would only be changing the sizes for a perf/handling improvement. I do not want to upgrade my wheels...I love the look of the stock 18"ers...just looking for an improvement with rubber.

 

if i remember correctly, the general consensus is exactly what you got (255/45/18 rr, and 245/40/18 fr). that's what i'm going with this summer.
