~800 miles

hey,
i have about 800 miles on my car right now.. do you guys think its fine to rev it a bit every once in awhile or its not recommended?

what about the manual mode on the automatic.. should i play with that or should i stay with automatic while my car is relatively new?

thanks

IMO, I'd start bringing it up to around 5000 rpms now. Then at 1000 miles try 5500 rpms and slowly work your way up to redline near the 1200 mile mark.

I'm not sure it's good to keep it at/under 4000 rpms until 1200 miles then start taking it up to redline right away. Maybe you want to gradually work your way there...

should be fine.... I took mine to redline right off the dealer lot and left some tire skids as a thank you to them.

yeah... this doesn't get said enough...
but the 1200 miles of drive like a granny is really not the best way to break in a car.
I would absolutely start taking it, and I would also of course use some MM

Yeah, what he said.

Just be smart about it it. Make sure you're at full operating temps before you get on it, and don't do any neutral drops to impress any hot co-workers.

And with that said, wind it up and enjoy!

Yeah, just start driving normal without any thought...just don't rev it up too often. Driving normal means car will run normal, then again, if revving it up is normal to you, then I don't know what else to say...just my opinion

this is what i did... for the most part i took it easy (85% of the time), 12% of the time I would gun it but stop short of red line but maybe 3% of the times I might have red lined it... because you just cant control...

when you are getting the rush of the amazing acceleration you cant stop short... that like 'pulling out, when the time is right' ... if you know what I mean

to answer your question, it should not be a problem to red line it once in a while.
