Filling Gas

Anyone else have problems filling gas in this car? Today and it has happened in the past but not this bad. Anyway when I would stick the nozzle in and clicked the lever imediately it kicked off and continued doing this for about 20-25 times eventually it started spilling over down the side of the car. I needed gas so I knew it wasnt full or anything. But finally I got it to where it would accept the gas without clicking off. Is their a trick to this car or what? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey that happned to me to like a couple of time. not 20-25 times in a row like that.. It only happens to me at this one gastation. Does this happen to you at all gastations? Sometimes the hoses the use have air leaks in them and that will casue it to stop pumping.

Anyways, yeah, I've experienced this many times... but not in a row. To make sure that it wasn't just an error of the pump, I took my E320 there at the same pump and ... what do you know? No miss clicking! ... maybe there's something wrong with our gas tanks?

many times on my G... but the funny thing is that I use Shell and Chevron gas... and it only happens at Chevron...
the trick: have the nozzle out of the filler hole to the tank (where you can see the tip of the nozzle) and press the lever... Works for me.

Some reading material:

Solution in simple terms

Pics from the last link show a possible simple explanation/solution -from last link (NY State Environment Govt related link)

I have not had the problem in many months so have not been able to validate this fix, but sounds legit and easy to try.

Happened to me a couple of times at a Unocal but it's never happened again anywhere at all. Guys at the dealership told me that it could be the nozzle itself not detecting FULL INSERTION. So I make sure I stick it in all the way so it comes out properly...i can't stop laughing but this is the only way to explain this...BTW, I'm not a kid but I think like one!

This happens to me everytime i fill up. I can ride the yellow light for miles and still only get 13 gallons in. That gauge wont read full either. I just had my tank replaced about 5 weeks ago and the sender unit about 8. Going in on the 27th maybe i'll get a newer tank. Can this be classified as a lemon?
