What is going on? Help!!
Did anyone read june 20003, Vol.15.no.6 issue of Sport Compact Car, you notice the road test for The Infiniti G35 Coupe. Okay, DynoJet tested at 242hp at 6250 rmp and 230 lbs of torque at 4600 rpm. Okay when I bought the car, it stated 280hp car, I will except 267 or 270 something but 242, please tell me that this is wrong, somehow? Now I feel like testing my own car to see what is really going on. Don't get me wrong I love my car, but there is something wrong with this?? Does anyone know where I can get my own car tested? I live in Queens, New York. If these number are true, would a letter to Nissan, about how if it stated 242horses on the Window I never would have bought the car!!

Chill dude, you're not getting ripped. The advertised hp from Infiniti is 280. That number represents hp at the crank. When you get a dyno done if figures hp at the rear wheels after all the parasitic losses have had their way. A good rule of thumb is a 20% loss from the crank to the wheels, so 242hp to the rear wheels is only 13.6% loss. I would say that's excellent. That probably means the engine is making more than 280 at the crank.
Some of the dynos I've read about here are in the neighbourhood of 220-230 so 242 is good.
Does that help bro? .......

Re: What is going on? Help!!
Unless the magazine took the engine out of the car to test it, a 38 HP drop at the rear wheels may be reasonable. Maybe someone who knows more about this could confirm the numbers. Another way to look at this is a 0-60 MPH of 5.7 seconds does seem about right for this engine in this car.
