Stupid mistake. Please help!

Wassup guys,
Well I made my first stupid mistake. I was reversing into a parking space and i guess i backed into the curb. Luckily it didn't hit the body of the car or anything, but it did hit my left exhaust tip. Now my left exhaust is slightly bent down. Here's my question. Anyone know if this can easily be bent back by a auto repair shop or is it a bigger deal. Also, is there anything I should check for that could be more seriously damaged from this? The car sounds fine and exhaust seems to be emitting fine. I'm pretty stupid when it comes to this stuff and i get paranoid about something being jacked up on the car. PLEASE HELP!

Dude, if this is truely your FIRST stupid mistake, chaulk it up as a learning experience and be on your merry way! I'd get your alignment checked, VDC button retorqued and be sure to adjust your reverberating cog manifold...it's bound to be out of wack....

But really, the most you did is bend it and possibly break the weld between the rear muffler canister and the exhaust tip...ANY muffler shop can fix it for pennies...good luck!

Gee, I have the same problem...my left one hangs lower than my right one too! Is it normal? Will the right one ever drop properly?!

I dont think that can be fixed. Be glad its just the exhaust, no one will notice. Besides, you now have an excuse to get new exhaust.

I think it can be fixed. but you'll have to remove the exhaust from the hangers.
If you're lucky, it might be just the hanger that's bent. if not, have a muffler shop
straighten the pipe. (if the tip is bent, then you'll have to get a new tip...or just
get a used rear section).

Man, on my car and in Irvine mainly, it seems like i cant park my car front in because it doesnt clear the concentrate bar or i have to worry about hitting my body against a curb. PLUS if i don't drive over a speedbumps at 2miles per hour, it'll hit the bottom of the car no doubt! And my car is stock height, never lowered!! Happens atleast once every few days.

if it's bent down a bit... wouldn't it be possible to just use a hydraulic jack to push it up a bit?

The exhaust is hung on rubber hangers.

so does that mean that it can or cannot be done?? couldn't u put some sort of block (maybe a piece of wood or a rubber hockey puck) between the bent exhaust and a metal support piece under the car... then jack the exhaust from below to straighten the tube a little? there's no pictures in this thread... but if it's only dipping by like a 1/4 or 1/2 an inch... i would think that this would fix it.

here's a link to a borla exhaust installation: http://www.borla.com/media/installations/140057.pdf it's got some pics of the undercarriage on our car. maybe someone else who is knowledgable on car repairs could comment on this?
