Renault is a terrible car maker their cars in Europe handles like crap. Issues of reliability still hounds that car maker just like VW and Audi. And the sad thing is that I think they incorporated the suspension of the Renault on the G.

Have you driven one? There are a lot of them I saw all over Europe.
I rented one in Germany last summer and it was the most tight and smooth (but underpowered big time) car that I have driven. The interior was extremely nice for a car in that class. The handling was fine but I don't know anything about reliability other than I had no issues while I had it. (New car of course) I forget which model it was but it was the equivalent of a BMW 318 at the rental agency. I was quite impressed with it myself.

Without Renault, nissan/infiniti wouldnt be where it is today. There quite possibly wouldnt even be a nissan or infiniti anymore since they were doing so poorly in the late 90s. Thanks to Carlos Ghosn, both companies have been revived and are now doing very well.

If you're the sort of car nerd that reads Road and Track and such (as I am), you knew about it. Otherwise, I could see how the casual person on the street might have missed it.

Yep, the 9-2X is 90% Subaru. I believe that their new 9-7X is a GM product in Saab clothing.

I owned a 1991 Eagle Premier Limited (Canadian made Renault) sold by Chrysler at their Jeep Eagle dealerships. It was the most comfortable car I had owned. Styling was beautiful for the period it was made and interior was roomy, unique but somewhat plasticky. Handling was good, but car was underpowered. The major issues were quality problems. Paint pealing, ABS brakes failing and many electrical problems. As long as Renault stays with the bussines affairs of Nissan and stays away from the engineering and technical issues, it will be fine, if not it will not take long for Nissan to hit rock bottom.

Wow dude! That's kind of out of line don't you think? You don't even know the guy do you? I think it was about a month ago Glenn was in Italy for vacation.

Later,

Ray

I was in Italy 3 weeks ago and I rented a Renault Magane Scenic for almost 10 days. Drove it from Milan to Rome and everything else in between. Believe me when I tell you that the suspension on that thing needs to be redesigned. It was bouncing all over the place and was scary to drive over 160 kmh on a straight line. It was even more scary to drive the damn thing in the mountain twisties going to Nice and Monte Carlo. And the steering wheel of that thing felt like it was vibrating ever so slightly that after holding it for about 1/2 hr your hands tends to go numb. Renault has always had reliability issues from the early models like the T15, T20's and T'30's. And don't tell me that you don't know about issues on the VW and Audi's. So before bashing me about being full of it you might want to get some facts first. But then again a perfect human being like knows everything already and therefore cannot be reasoned with. It's sad see that people just have a hard time accepting things like these. This is the same exact reaction I got when I first posted here that my car buttomed out on me on my way to work. Some people can't accept the fact that cars are going to have issues no matter who builds the damn thing. Some carmakers are just worse than others. Renault had to pull out of the US market because of major issues on the cars that they were selling. If it was ever reintroduce here in the US they should improve the quality of the cars that they sell. I bet you're going to be the first in line just prove a point that I was full of it. Anyways, that is just my 2 cents on the matter no biggie if you agree with me or not.

Glad to read that you actually did drive one recently. Sorry to have been too quick to judge.

This is a sample of one and it is a rental car so I would bear that in mind. They don't send them to the dealers with hand-numbing vibration. Renault's quality today bears no comparison to what it was when they pulled out of the US, otherwise they wouldn't be around.
