How do I remove the piece of plastic that the window switches are in? I have a rattle in my drivers door and when I touch the area where the switches are it stops. I noticed the piece of trim the switches are housed in can be wiggled front to back so I'm guessing it comes off the door without taking the whole door apart.

This is on a 2005 just in case there is a difference in the years.

 

It comes out by prying it out (pull upwards). But you can’t pull it out without opening the door panel, as the switch housing is being held by 4 plastic clips from the inside. You’ll need to release the clips first in order for it to come out. In order to get to these clips, you’ll need to go from behind (i.e. opening the door panel). Trying to pry it out without first releasing the clips, will most likely break them.

 

Any tips on opening the door panel? I did a search but most of the link pictures I found are dead.

 

1. pull off the painted silver door handle cover (screwdriver slot in bottom to start. You will think you are breaking it when you pull it off, but it snaps off.

2. remove 2 screws behind this piece.

3. remove 1 screw behind cover in door lever pocket.

4. pull from the bottom of the door panel and unsnap the panel all the way around.

5. Lift up on the panel to clear the window opening (helps if the window is down.)

6. Disconnect the door lever wires - like bike brake lever wires.

BTW, the service manual is only $19 online - good to have it for this and other reasons. Search on service manual in the forum for a way to download once you access it on the infiniti website.

 

yeah the door/window switch panel is pretty cheapy.. you can just pull it out using your finger nails. snap on snap off.. i would add some rubber strips or something to making it tighter.
