Cut a tire yesterday. Need help ASAP.
I drove into work yesterday and parked in a garage near the office. As I'm getting out of the car, I hear a hisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Crap.
Turns out a MASSIVE piece of glass (no clue how I didn't see it) went right through the tread (center) of the driver rear tire. It went through one of the water channels, so it's deep in the tire. Right in the middle. Damn it.
So I put on the awesome-looking spare and heading over to the dealer to see if it could be patched. The piece of glass was so friggin big, it can't even be patched. So I have to get at least one new tire.
The dealer wanted... Are you ready???
$392 + tax for a Pilot Sport 245/45/18
So I left. Awesome dealer, very nice... But I refuse to pay that much for one tire.
The dealer said I only need one tire. The Pilots have about 9,000 miles on them with very even wear. I have about 6-7/32 still left on the tread.
So do I just get one and forget about it? I'm not really in the mood to buy 4 new tires (especially Pilot Sports). I could buy two if you all thought it was necessary. But right now, I'm leaning towards just one.
Thoughts???
Thanks.

That's a shame scrib. Here in Canada they're about the same price factoring in the exchange. I guess you're past any road hazard warranty if you even had it in the first place.
You might want to check out a place like tire rack for a new tires or tires since their prices are quite a bit lower. Another option is checking or posting in the classifieds here as there are often people buying/selling wheels tires etc.
Good luck

I believe its usually recommended to change both tires on the same axle when changing a tire (if there is significant wear). The one with 9k on it could "behave differently" in certain handling situations because of the difference in traction. I would expect this would have more of an affect in wet conditons. Its always better to be safe than sorry.

Hey Bro, Sorry to hear your problem.
Go to Tire Rack https://www.tirerack.com/
For 245/45WR18 Michelin Pilot Sport Blackwall
Grand Total: $258.97 that's fedEx 2day air, a little more for over nite.

I ended up getting one. Should have it tomorrow (Tirerack is only 65 miles from my home ).
We'll see how the handling goes. Once the pilots to wear out... I'll probably not go back. I don't track my car, so I can probably get awat with a KDW2 or something a little less heavy on the pocketbook.

Tire....
Thats why I have the premium Road Hazzard Warranty. 4 yrs 48 k covers rims and tires, if cant be repaired, new product!!! I actually used it the other day. Car only has 1690 miles. Went to go out other day, and tire sensor was on, looked at tires, sure enough drivers rear was almost flat. Took it to a bridgestone dealer and they patched it. Called warranty Co. and they told the Tire Co. to fax all necessary info. Bingo, got a check today for 100% of repair cost. Glad I purcased it now.

Sorry to hear about your tire problem. May be you should consider getting the tire and wheel warranty from your dealer for the future. You know the tries and wheels for your G are expensive. I bought one which is cost about $275 plus tax for 4 yrs. It is a great deal. It covers all 4 tires and wheels. When your tires wear down and you need the replacement, the warranty also covers the new tires. I remember a while ago, someone posted the same thread in here about the Infiniti tire and wheel warranty. Seem likes people are paying different price range ($275 to $500) for 4 yrs warranty. I managed to talk to my dealer to get down to $275. You can try that. Hope it helps!
