let's say you use 1 tank of gas a week. the difference in cost between getting 20mpg and 16mpg is roughly $10-15 depending on gas prices. if you can't find $10-15 every week, you shouldn't have bought this car. you have bigger issues to deal with such as money management than fuel economy

sure. if you can't come up with $500-800 over the course of the year, you've got bigger problems...because you can't afford driving a $35k+ car...but for some reason, you have one. what are you gonna do when you *really* have a problem and you need even $1k?

LOL.. i didn't know that "M6" didn't mean the same thing with respect to G35's in the States.

And Yes, I know rev's depend on the gear (i'm not an idiot) and it's obvious that you want to be cruising on the highway at your highest gear. :P I thought I didn't need make these assumptions.

Anyway, I'm not trying to sound cheap, but hey, if you can drive at the optimal speed without taking too much more time to get to your destination, then I don't see why not. Better to have the $1k in my pocket than to the evil gas companies.

I wanted to compare my driving habits with other fellow G35 M6 owners... I have been shifting from between 2500-3000rpm's and I was wondering how others drive!

BTW, i see many signatures here with "2003.5", "2004.5".. does this mean you bought it half way through the year? If that's the case, what difference does it make if you bought it at the beginning, middle or end of the year?!

Sometimes they change a few things on the car mid year, hence the .5.

I shift around 3k to 3.5k rpms except coming outta first I usually shift 4k cause it's smoother than letting off the gas at 2.5k. Every so often I will drive it a little harder.

I get about 18-19mpg with about half and half city and highway, with Houston traffic too.

oh you're in Canada? Well don't worry about fuel economy on the freeways....it seems like the speed limit was 50 mph last time I was there.....it took forever to go across the country

If you reset your ECU, and then drive featherfooted, shouldnt it technically give you really good gas mileage?

Why is that? It adapts to your driving style, which as of now mine is shift at 3000-3500 rpm. I get about 18 mpg. When you reset it, if you get more "oomph" as I've read on this forum, technically if you drive really lightly, you should get really good gas mileage...I should post that on the tech forums..

oh... u must have been driving down a sideroad or something... last time i checked our highway limits were 100kph. that's about 62mph. i consider that faster than your typical 55mph speed limits in the us. granted u had a lot of states boost the avg up by 5 or 10 mph that still only equates to about 112kph here in canada. then again we don't have state troopers here that will pull us over for doing 115 or 120kmp as in the states which is now the norm for driving on the hwy up here. i lived in south carolina for 2 years... and i swear i thought i was gonna go crazy with all the side-by-side driving hogs on the hwy plastered at exaclty 55mph and also the wonderful law enforcement officers that hide in the bushes every 15 miles or so. gotta luv the good-ole-boys.

Right which is why its CONSTANTLY adapting....it doesn't just adapt to thr first thing it sees...I mean NOT everyone drives like its always being broken in...
