First oil change coming soon, what kind of oil to use? Synthetic?

With my first oil change coming up I am wondering what the general consensus is around here. What kind of oil does everyone use? Does anyone recommend synthetic oil? Why or why not?

i use mobil 1 at 3K (first oil change) and at 8K now at 12K I still plan to use mobil1. I also drove it like I stole it right off the dealer lot. Also changed my rear tires at 11,350 b/c it was already bald.....

I've used Castrol Syntec 5W30, and Mobil 1 5W30 after first oil change.
That gives the engine a chance to semi-break in.

i plan on waiting till at least 10,000 miles before switching to mobil 1. until then, pretty much any major brand oil should be fine.

especially if you're in a lease

I just posted about this on another thread, but I just switched to Mobile 1 0W40 (yes, that's a ZERO). Extremely thin oil that has a higher heat rating.

This is pretty much the elite that Mobile 1 has to offer.

It's a bit pricey, but GREAT for your G35. Obviously, the weight of the oil will be determined by where you live in the US. I live in a Dallas suburb.

In the south, this is the best oil in my opinion.

The guys at Sewell Infiniti confirmed this for me as well. They just said most customers probably wouldn't want to pay for it. I brought my own oil in for them to use. They don't carry it in the dealerships.

I put 140,000 miles on my 350Z using Mobil 1. I did change oil and filter
every 2,000 miles, but that's just me!
On my G35 coupe I'll follow the same program it just feels better. I follow
the same type of program with the wash/wax. I use Zymol waxes, and with
great results. If it doesn't feel good it gets a new coat of Zymol.
