Break-In Period?

i was wondering how did all of you guys break in ur G'z? Did you guys take it easy or drove it hard. By going around the fourms i found some that say they drove it hard and they get alot more power frum it in the later run. Some say they take it easy n dont even know the different they say its the same as driving it hard?

Personally, I feel some discretion is wise during breakin, with only the occasional flogging, until 1200 miles. But that's JMHO.

Do you plan on keeping it 6-10 years? If so, take it easy during break-in time. If you are more likely to dump it after 3-5 years, drive it like you stole it.

My impression, based only on the hip language used in the "drive it hard" responses so far, is that those suggesting you push it are more likely to be the type to trade cars often.

Well after searching through many theads, more G owners seem to go by the manual ie: No hard starts, stops and do not bring it over 4k rpm for the first 1.2-1.4k mi. The problem with that is by end break in the car will not fell as responsive as other G's becuase the computer learns your driving habbits. Easy fix. Just disconect the battery and the computer will re-set it self. Then drive it like you want and the computer will learn your true driving habbits

does that really work? Disconecting the battery for 30 sec n puting it back on? Or u jus snoop around n saw it in the threads?

I know the Auto Transmissions are supposed to "learn" your dirving habits, but I'm not sure the 6MT's would suffer from conservative driving. And yes, from what I understand, disconnecting the battery would cause the car to "re-learn" your habits.

I saw it in a thead. It makes sence since my last car was the same way. In fact everytime I would do a new MOD. I would re-set the ECU. Lets see what other G owners say about. this.
