Cutting the front grill?

I don't like the looks of the factory front grill. The chrome plastic doesn't look that good on ivory pearl. I think black would look better and I have been looking into buying an insert. In the meantime I was thinking of removing it and cutting off a few of the slats to open it it up and hopefully make it look better.

Has anyone done this and if you have what did you use to cut the grill?

This is a stillen insert. You have to cut out the original grill and replace it with the stillen. I used a dremel tool and a hack saw blade. After that I painted it black and replaced the Infiniti symbol. I never liked the original grill they use it on all of their cars and suv's.

I've got the same grill as you, it came with my car when I bought it used. I wanted to put the Infiniti emblem on it too but didn't know what emblem to order. Did you just order the emblem for the factory grill? If so how does it attach, glue or does it screw on?

The emblem came out of the original grill you would likely have to buy a new grill just to get it. It pops out. I cut a hole in the grill pushed the emblem in from the front and glued it in from the back.

The hole was molded using carbon fiber, sanded down, painted and clear coated.

Wasn't my work though

Very nice, thanks for the info.

Oh, and what was done to paint it? (sorry if it seems like I'm hijacking the thread )

To the best of my knowledge, it was spray painted. (hope that's why you meant in your question).
