Problem with replacing your fog/hi with HID is that HID's can't be used to flash. So they don't make effective high beams... this is why all high end cars, even ones with bixenon, have (typically) an H4 bulb along side. This way during the day they can flash to pass. This is more important for europe, because every dumb driver in the left lane stateside has no clue how to drive... present company excluded of course!

If you want to do something with your h4 setup, lazy way, get a solenoid actuated HID conversion (search ebay for H4 hi lo HID) or one that uses an ancillary H1 bulb for the high beam in one tidy package.

I still don't get, however, why these are called fog lights? What they are is worthless... if there is fog, there is no way to turn them on without the mains - which defeats the whole purpose of a fog light.

Cheers.

Fog lights are supposed to used in conjuction with your headlights, not with your headlights off. ALL cars you buy with factory fog lights only allow you to turn on the fog lights while the headlights are on.

I will agree our "fog lights" suck. They are positioned too high. I've actually used them in fog before. They give too much glare, fog lights are supposed to be positioned closer to the ground so they do not shine back at you, but rather light up the road, under the fog, close to the ground.

No one drives with fog lights on only, thats just dumb.
