Deciding on Color

Hey all. I'm new to this forum. Have learned a lot and have enjoyed everyones' comments with regard to the G.

My BMW convertible was just deemed a total lost, officially. Having have had been my 3rd bimmer, I will give the bimmers a rest. The G coupe seems like the best car for me, at this time.

I am planning to pick up a '05 G35 6MT coupe, next weekend.

My color choices are Diamond Graphite, Athens Blue, and Brilliant Silver, in no particular order. I like all 3 color combos with the Graphite interior. All 3 combos are available to me, at this time.

I guess I'll be flipping a coin. Any suggestions and/or comments on exterior colors would be helpful and appreciate.

What have you current owners of the said above exterior colors experienced, as far as cleaning, maintenance, paint chips, etc?

Thank you!

Go for the Athens blue, the other colors are quite common among G's and other similar vehicles (Audi's, BMW's, etc.). The Athens blue looks great in person and on a sunny day, wow, it's sharp. I personally like red, but that's just me...

As far as chips go, the paint on the G is of poor quality, meaning you will see chips. A lot of members on here talk about the clear bra, but this was not an option from my dealer.

Also, consider a light color for the interior. I have the wheat interior and it feels open and spacious, and your steering wheel and shifter are a cool drab olive color. I think that black interiors feel quite confining, but that's just me.

I'd go with Athens Blue. When I was looking for my '03 I wanted to get the Caribbean Blue with a light interior, but couldn't find one that was just right. From the current colors, Athens is the closest, so I'm somewhat partial to it.

If i could recommend one thing over anything else when buying a G35--it would be the clear bra. I can guaranntee that you will be extremelly dissapointed that you didn't after the first couple months when the chips begin to appear. Luckily i got one my self, but I do have a friend who didn't get one and now she has white marks all over the front of her car. Back to your choices--is there one car that comes with other options over another (such as a rear spoiler, nav, etc.?) As for the color choice, it is really up to you, all you are going to get on this board are people that own certain colors and rave about them. I can give a few tips though...if you want the "least seen" color, that would definitely been the Athens blue. Personally I dont like it all that much, but its just me. Although you would think that Brilliant Silver would be the most popular choice, it definitely isn't around here, but it may be different where you live. Personally i love the silver, and that is the color of my G. If you go the Diamond Graphite option, that is obvioulsy a darker color and looks great on the G (especially with tint). You can't really go wrong with any of these colors, it is really all up to you. I dont know how much more information i can give you rather than I love the silver (black is my favorite though), and i think the blue is too "showy". Once again its all up to what you like.

Have you looked Lakeshore slate, It's a new color for 05 so you will stand out from the other colors. Especially when you hook it up. You have to see it in person. I love mine.

I'm personally a big fan of the Athens Blue. It's what I'm looking at for myself. It seems to be a rare color and it definitely turns heads.

NO, the paint sucks on all year models. I know the bra is expensive, but just search around on the forum and you will see many posts about how people are dissapointed with the paint chips. The clear bra prevents this, is hardly noticable, and you wont get any paint chips on the front of your car.

If i was you I would go with one of the silvers, DG or BS, there would be no way I personally would get a blue car. I go for more of the classy look for business purposes. I would get any color the G offers except the blue tints.

Question, how does the clear bar effect the car when you wash it and stuff?

Does it get water specs under it and stuff?

And if the dealer cant put on a clear bra, where else can you go?

Athens Blue, i almost got DG and thank god i didn't. I've gotten compliments on lots of fellow G drivers for the car, plus others. The car is beautiful as it is but you have to go with something everyone else doesnt have, and thats why you should go with Athens Blue.

Cleaning wise, since its been raining on and off for the past 3 weeks in NY, i havent washed her and she still looks pretty clean.
