Is there a rev-limiter on the g35 coupe

I own a 2005 g35 coupe and its an automatic. A few days ago an m3 blew past me and i shifted over into manual mode. i punched the throttle and proceeded to run him down. This was the first time that i had really gotten down really hard on the gas b/c i had just turned over 1500 miles so excuse my ingorance, but this damn this is really rev happy. I previously owned a mustang gt so you know what i mean. My question is that the car went to around 6700 rpms or so and i begain to worry if i had hurt the car or if, while i wasnt looking, i might have gone over the redline. I am wondering is their a rev-limiter or some kind of safety mechanism that would keep me from damaging or blowing up my engine? I called my local infiniti dealership and spoke to one of the technicians and he told me that the car does not have a rev-limiter or anything that would keep me from causing damage to my engine. Is this true? B/c my 2000 mustang gt had a rev-limiter, which i found on occassions, and it didnt have as much technology and didnt cost as much. So it seemed crazy that infiniti wouldnt put a rev-limiter on these sports cars. Please right back with any info that anyone might have. thank you.

Most of your power is around 6200 RPM.

After the redline there is a fuel cut off. You'll notice a steep decline if you redline.

Technosquares reflash removes the cut-off brings the redline to 7100-7200 RPM, removes the speed limiter.

You can also have them do remapping and some other stuff.

unless you want to do some serious racing where you need that extra couple hundred RPM I wouldn't do it. The rev-limiter is there for safety. For instance if you're not paying attention, or someone else drives your car. Bouncing off the rev-limiter will do nothing to your car, because it's the software that stops your engine from going any higher, instead of the mechanics of your engine deciding when to stop. Also the speed limiter, esp in the united states, is so high (155mph) that on most roads you can't and shouldn't hit those speeds. Just my 2 cents

i agree... a crash at 155 = death, even if the car has the best safety features... its elementary physics, elementary physics...

yes it does have one, I believe it hits right above the red area in on the tach, not sure of the exact rpm but it's in the red zone. I've bounced off mine a couple of times, no problem, no damage done. it's there for safety.

The thing is that the 05 has a really soft rev limiter, which was confirmed at a recent FL dyno day.. I've experienced bouncing off the rev limiter in an 03, and I've taken my 05 to ~7200. Fuel is cut off, you won't chirp or anything, but I didn't "hit" the rev limiter like in the 03, totally different feeling.
