35% Tint in NJ

Hey, Im going for tints tomorow. (at Auto Image on 9) I live in NJ where the cops are pretty strict about this kinda stuff, and I allready dont have a front plate on so Im an easy target to begin with, and tints will make me stand out even more.

How do you think 35% will look on a DG coupe? I dont want anything rediculously dark like 5 or 10% where I will stand out, allthough I like the slight amount of tint to a point where it is dark enough to look good, yet not make myself bait for the police looking to score an easy ticket.. Anyone have any pics of their 35% or close (40/30) And any experiences with tints and getting pulled over in NJ?

Also, what besides the fact that the window automatically opens and closes should I bring up to the guy at the shop? Something about the dot matrix on the back window and the windsheild? I saw a tinted G and the rear windows looked really messed up, with some sort of white outline around them as well..

Thanks!

this is 30% on just the back 3, im from chicago where u cant get the front done, which sucks. Everyone i talk to has gotten a ticket for it, but its up to u. I would have went darker, i think 30% (medium) is too light.

I have 15% tint all around, and have gotten ticketed for it. The ticket was given when I had gotten pulled over for doing 82mph in a 65mph on 287, so I was lucky. The trooper gave me a warning for the speeding, but had to give me something, so he got me for the tint. He also commented about me not having a front plate, but I told him I had an adapter on order. I say if you don't give them reason to pull you over, then they are "ok" with it, that's just what I think. Bottom line, avoid getting targeted for something else, and you should be fine.

Here is a pic of the 15%. Quality is crappy, but you get the idea.

Maybe it's just me but it doesn't look that dark. I expected 15% to be fairly dark where you couldn't see into the car. Unless the angle of the sun is causing that........

It's probably cause the car was sitting in direct sun that day. Also, I have willow interior, so that kind of makes it appear ligther. I was thinking of actually going darker, but night driving is kind of rough as is with 15%. Here is another pic of how sunny it was that day.

I have 20% all round and I drive on Turnpike , 287 all the time.. had them since Dec and have not gotten pulled over so far... and iv passed a few cops in my town.. so yea if u dont give them a reason to pull you over u should be fine.

btw i got mines done from amboy . .they did a great job wit the dot matrix in the back .. no bubbles or anything and the tints have life time warr.

I have 35% all around. Been pulled over a million times. Never had a problem with my tints. I want to get them redone at 25% though. I think 35% is too light. Here are some pics:

I have 15% all the way around as well and I have to drive a little more careful at night b/c it's a bit hard to see.

Thanks for all the replies, I appriciaite it

Puff - Where did you go and what did they charge? They look like they came out great, and those are about exactly the tints I am looking for (if not slightly darker) but it almost looks like that is lighter than 35%. I've seen other people claim 35% on their G that look a bit darker than that.

This guy claims his is 35% too. Maybe it differs which tints the different shops use or something? Or perhaps its your lighter interior that gives this illusion.

Thanks. Also, did you mention the automatic windows that move up and down when you open and close the doors?

I think it depends on what part of jers you are in. I am in S jers close to philly. So usually I dont have a prob. Now, if I go into the townships they have a tendency to notice. And begin to follow looking for me to commit an infraction. I have been ticketed once. Seems that you N jers guys close to Newark/NY arent hassled as much either. BTW I have 20% all around and love it. I had 35% before and always wished I had gone darker.

I live in Bergen County around the Paramus/Teaneck area. I've been pulled over for no front plate about three times and once for my blue lights. My tints have never come into question. 35% is definitely safe. If you have a graphite interior, you'll be good to go. Your best bet is to go to a G35/350z meet and see for yourself which tint % you like and talk to the owner. I got mine done by Secondary Exposure. Their tint shop was out in Brooklyn. $190 for everything.
