Best form of FI...poll!!
What is the BEST form of FI for the G (or VQ engine overall??)
i have read some diff posts regarding diff FI systems, but i would like to put everything together and have everyone put in their opinions.
Best form of FI meaning: best price to power, easiest to instal, completeness of package, reliability, etc... oh, and of cousre, personal experience. please share so we can all learn something
please tell us why you would choose one over the other, be it Greddy TT or APS ST or Vortech Supercharger!!
Also, it be greatly appreciated if people can add in the detailed info besides price, such as HP/Torq rating, actual track time (1/4 mile), how much you spend, is it plug and play or needs more mods than the normals..etc..
a little list off the top of my head (and a lil search of course
)
-----------
for Single Turbo:
APS ST
Top Secret ST (new?)
Turbonetic ST
some other i forogt.
---------
for TT:
Greddy
APS
PE
JWT (just added to the list.. sorry not on the poll)
---------
Supercharger:
Vortech
ATI
HKS
Others??
----------
p.s. if i forget a system or anything, please feel free to add in!! thanks.
aight, lets start debating..hehe.. i love these debates!

Well prefer not to do any debating. Just suggesting to include SFR/SSR TT, JWT TT, and Turbonetics ST kits to your choices. Also read Sport Z magazine, article on " Turbo Shootout ", has test results and info on different FI kits your asking about. Also checkout " my350z forum " forced induction section.

i see people voted "others".. can you guys please tell us what the others you guys are refering to? it be greatly appreciated!
and everyone is welcome to add to the list of the systems.

I chose the Vortech because I didn't want to build my motor to feel safe. I am happy with around 400 to the wheels. I'd LIKE better torque numbers, but torque is what breaks things. 335lbft is good enough for me for now.
Just noticed you did'nt add Stillen SC to your list. They have decent HP #'s and appear to be reliable. From the Poll, noticed several members still like the Greddy TT. Someone at my350z forum, just blew a 2nd motor with the Greddy kit on stock boost. That kit requires alot of extra parts to make it safe.

sorry guys, i did forget Stillen, my bad. but like i said on the very first post..i knew i would forget something but couldnt remember them all at that moment. thanks for adding it to the list.
so some people like Vortech (is that the best "supercharger" that requires the least amoutn of tuning??)?
i know there have been endless debates between TT and SC...it will never end, so i dont wanna start it here. but just want to get a feeling of what everyone thinks of each, what they have (or want), etc...
of course, can you guys please be a little more specific on WHY the Vortech or ATI? from earlier Z discussion, i have read that many people blew their engines with the ATI, why did u say its best?
as for Greddy, well, i think the reason that most people chose it cuz it came out the earliest with TT setup, its very popular and famous (Greddy for godsake..lol)... and TT do yield MORE power and more potential down the road. however, like someone said, it also requires more tuning and builing up ur engine.
so just a quick Q.. which FI yields the most powre with the least tuning, or better yet, DO NOT need to have a build engine?? i think most TT requires alot more turning and build the bottom end..otherwise it go Kabooom, right?
keep it coming guys

for the people who chose "others", which FI uall talking bout? Stillen? or something other popular brands that i have forgotten? thanks..
seems like alotta people like Vortech...however, from what i have seen on the Z forums, most Z owners like TT setups.. most are Greddy, and now APS is getting VERY popular... i havent heard too many good comments on ATI..maybe cuz it came out very early and many VQ's blew up.. who knows.
Vortech seems like the way to go for most G owners...can someone tell us WHY?
price? power? reliability?
i have heard good news on Stillen SCs and quite a few Z owners have them ... however, they require u to mod the hood i think.. a lil ugly to for me.
what about ST? G owners dont seem to like turbos as much..how come? Single turbo is cheaper than TT and puts out very good #'s.. i think the most talked bout ST now is APS.. seems like a very good kit.. any thoughts on that?

As of now, APS TT is the most complete kit and " out of box " is pretuned, so no tuning required, unless you add mods that help engine breath better ( cam, plenum, IM ) which will make engine run leaner, so a qualified unichip tuner is needed. Keep it at stock boost and around 400rwhp and your least likely to damage the engine. Turbonetic ST looks to be complete, no tuning required, just send in your ECU. Vortech is safe kit, supposeably no tuning required but only if your G is stock. Stilllen stage 2 is very safe, but HP#'s are only in low 300's, not tuneable, and also Stillen hood required. ..... Regarding Procharger, problems in past was " timing retard ". Does make the most HP of all the SC kits. Regarding Greddy TT not the safest kit " out of box ".
