980 miles . . . '05 BS 6MT Coupe
Well, I am a very pleased and happy owner of a new '05 BS 6MT Coupe. I purchased the G, last Friday. I have 980 miles on the car now. LOL . . . That's 1 long trip to the Sacramanto Valley area and 1 awesome coastal driving trip to the Santa Cruz/Monterey/Carmel area.
My previous 3 cars were BMW's. The last one being a '96 328i convertible. It was totaled in a head-on accident about a month ago. In my opinion, the G35 Coupe is a far better car than my old 328iC and the new Bimmers are far too exspensive. I have owned another 3 and 5 series BMW's, so I think my opinions will be fair and accurate.
The interior fit and finish of the G35 might be a few points behind the BMW. However, the G takes it in hands down in the exterior looks and styling categories. I feel the body styling is amazing and a treat to look at.
The G35 handles great with the Sports Tuned Suspension. Behing the wheel on the twisties, I get great feel and feedback. The G is sure footed and affords me confidence that the car is going to go exactly where and when I want it to go.
Entries into turns and the exits are precise. Very niiiice!
Powerwise, I can't really say, yet. I am normally shifting at or around 4K rpm. I had taken it up to 5K through 6K only a few times. Time will tell after the break-in period. However, I have a feeling I will not be dissapointed.
The manual transmission shifts quite smoothly and very quickly. My brother has a '04 6MT and the '05 has a shorter throw shifter. I really haven't noticed, but he does notice the difference.
The clutch is very light. I am used to a heavier feeling clutch. The '04 clutch feels a lot heavier than the '05. The '05 clutch has a longer travel to engagement. Engagement of the clutch is almost at the end of travel and the engagement has a light feel, as opposed the the feel of the '04 6MT, which has a shorter travel point to engagement and a heartier engagement feel. Once I got used to the travel/engagement points of the '05, it was great.
Fuel economy is rather dismal, at this point . . . But then again, I did not buy the G35 for its' fuel efficiency.
All in all, I am very happy and quite impressed with my new G35 Coupe. This car will afford me miles and years of driving enjoyment.
In closing, I wanted to thank all of you forum members for offering all of your experiences and driving impressions for the G35. It has helped me and I assume others, as well, in making an informed decision in getting our new G's.
THANK YOU ALL!
Oh yeah . . .
The driver controls all seem to be in all of the right places. At this point, nothing appears to be out of place and/or awkward. The Bose sound sysytem is good. Although, I listen mostly to news talk. I wish there was a cassette player with the Bose set-up, so that I could use my iPod.
The front sets are very comfortable. I like the afforded boltstering. Driving position is very good for me.

Good to hear! Did they remove the TAPE option for the 05s? I used that tape converter on my 04 several times.. But hey, I think you guys got MP3 CD playback so thats more than worth it.
You should try the clutch on my porsche for heavy!
And gas mileage will noticeably improve after "break in", and atleast did for me after a while, allthough it still never anything all that good. But the way you drive it makes a huge difference as well.

Thanks, heeb! . . . I forgot that I had the MP3 capabilities. 155 songs (11.6 hrs. playback) on the first CD and the playback is awesome. Great, no more storing the iPod in the car and carrying all the cords. This ride is getting better and better.
