I wonder if a relay would help in any way?
Kpeirson had the idea to use a relay to power the sensor only when the ignition was off, which would be a better method. Not sure if he actually ever hooked one up that way. You might want to ask him.

..but powering the unit continuoulsy has not been ay problem.

When I turned on my old car (with the alarm) it would automatically lock the doors, any way for out G35s to do this?

Also, does anyone have Lojack (sp?)? Is this worth it and where can I get it cheap?

Or should I get an alarm, what do you guys recomend?
Yes, get LoJack. There was a Navigator w/ alarm and Onstar stolen from our office. Very professional job, gone in minutes and Onstar tracking was disabled. There are 2 lojack plans...one passive-you walk out and go..hummm oh, oh it's not where I parked and active- anything else than ur key activates the lojack and notifies the popos. I think that Lojack may also be more secure and that it may not be detectable by thieves as it is not an active system until it's truly armed.

The stock alarm isn't all that bad. It does have a few weakenesses, but it CAN be upgraded. The biggest flaw is the ability to disarm the alarm from outside the car, but that can easily be fixed by cutting one wire!

Like I said before, the stock alarm has its shortcomings, but its not all that bad. 75% of aftermarket alarms, if setup properly would NOT go off if the drivers window is smashed. If you throw a rock or brick through the window there isn't enough force on the car to trip a shock sensor (as the impact is absorbed by the glass, not the car). It is possible to set your shock sensor super sensitive to pick up stuff like that, but then your alarm will go off when it rains, with it lightnings, when big trucks drive by, and when people slam car doors anywhere near your car. To protect agains broken glass you need a 'broken glass detector.' To my knowledge not a single alarm comes with one, you always have to buy them separately. You CAN hook a glass break sensor up to the stock alarm, just like you can hook up single stage shock and motion sensors.

I've installed countless aftermarket alarms, and I honestly feel that the G35s stock alarm could be much worse. If you fix two major security flaws in it it will hold up as well as an aftermarket alarm, with the exception that there arn't any spare channels readily availible!
