Turbo Civic through downtown

I came to a light in the middle of downtown San Luis Obispo, CA today and a black, lowered, hatchback Civic pulled up next to me. I noticed the damn thing was a right hand drive conversion!

It sounded like it had a little whine from the engine, and when the guy looked over he asked, "do you want to race my turbo civic?"

I declined, and he sped away with the smell of rice following behind him

At the next light he said good thing I didn't race him cause he hasn't lost a race yet and didn't want to lose to a factory automatic car. Respect from a street racer

I love my car.

You shoulda tried him man. You win, you get the glory. You lose, you just tell him you're car is stock - just wait till you get a turbo.

Re: Turbo Civic through downtown

Anyone know if a stock civic has enough power to spin its wheels? I had a civic driver try to race me off a stoplight just today and he lost pretty bad, but he spun his tires a bit at the start. All I could see was aftermarket exhaust/rims but don't know if he had anything underhood.

Re: Turbo Civic through downtown

Driving my brand new car through a pothole riddled downtown (25 mph zone) just to gain the glory of racing a Civic was not something I really considered.

His car did sound mean- and he obviously had a lot of money in it. I will save the racing for the big screen...

Re: Turbo Civic through downtown

I have a bud who had 4 ugly a$$ hatch's and 1 nice hatch. Each one has a GSR engine in it accept his nice looking one. Which has a Type R. All his car's sound like a sonic boom when they take off. They all can burn out for days... Light as hell... The thing about his car's though is that they all win there competitors at the end of track... In the begining they have slow start.. but at about 40 or so mph that's when all hell breaks loose and his civic's will just fly right by you... I love his nice looking civic but can't stand his ugly one's... He said the bodies only costed him like 800 to 1500 bucks... Each of his civic's are worth 6k dollars and can run 12 to 13's very easily with the right driver...

Oh yea and he also own's a Lexus GS430, but his wife drives it...

20 to 30k worth of civic's and a new GS430... He said Civic's are "fun" to work on and fixed up cuz when someone see's it fly by them it just has a priceless look on there face... Another thing is everyone thinks and accuses him of using NOS cuz he makes it look very easy (at the end) when he passes them even though all his civic's are all motor...lol

He said Civic's aren't worth putting a turbo in... With a simple engine swap you can go in circles around turbo'd civic's... He said with Slicks or Drag Radial's he can get his little car's in the 11's....lol

But unlike those lawn mower sounds that come out of people's regular civic's his civic has a huge *** roar which made the guys in the LS1's think twice before running him for money...lol

Re: Turbo Civic through downtown

That's the problem. There's a select few Civics out there that are damn fast and can embarass you. Even if you win but it's close, it's still a victory for the Civic. And if you beat him badly, well, nobody's going to respect doing that to a Civic. So it's a no-win situation. The only correct response is snobbily disdaining anything to do with him.

This is part of why I'm not entirely against stickers. If the Civic owner did put a bunch of work in and really does have something under the hood, then sure, let me know about it and I'll honor it appropriately. But none of this sleeper crap. Not unless I pull up on your car and start revving like a moron, then, yeah, I've got it coming.

Re: Turbo Civic through downtown

It's all about how the civic SOUNDS...

Seriously I know there's a lotta poser civic driver's out there trying to make there civic's sound all loud by adding all those loud things to there car's but u can obviously tell that his civic ain't no joke from when he starts it. If you hear those "farting" sounds obvoiusly it ain't gonna be fast.. Like my friends civic if you hear a damn sonic boom it's OBVIOUSLY got something in it... In his case more then enough... but yea if u beat a civic it's like who care's because the people watching u expecting your ride will smoke it and when you get dusted by a civic either way civic take's the glory leaving everyone stumped... so why bother...

Oh yea my friend has no sticker's on his civic's but a black ugly carbon fiber hood excpet his nice civic which has a red painted nicely done carbon fiber hood...
