Not to confuse things here, but has anyone done just Crawford Headers or Nismo Headers with stock Mid-pipe and stock exhaust and dynoed????? I am curious about the gains of the headersw/ the stock units. I have heard that you are better off doing Test Pipes or HF Cats and an Aftermarket Exhaust! Reason being that the stock cats are the most resrictive part of the OEM exhaust system!!! Also the gains w/ these setups are pretty much the same as with headers. And like said earlier..the labor cost on headers is about 6 hours! My friend has done a few turbo kits on 350z's and he said the header install is a bitch!! The labor on HF Cats and exhaust is about 1 hour. Just something to consider......Trust me the only reasonI would do headers is because my good friend gives me a break on labor!!! Almost Free is all I can say.

IMO, unless you plan on going FI I wouldnt get aftermarket exhaust the factory exhaust is pretty free flowing except for the y-pipe & cats....I would spend the money on Headers, Test Pipes or High flow cats, Y-pipe, Plenum

also if you were to go with headers, cats & y-pipe you would basically only pay for install of the headers since the cats and y-pipe will need to be removed when installing the headers the install should be around 350-425

i will go for nismo headers, but if u go through the exhaust route, between greddy and nismo (exception of looks) i would go with nismo. i lost some power with i change my exhaust from nismo to greddy. hey, chit it looks good though!

+1. I went Crawford headers and I've been very pleased thus far. Nismo advertises less hp at midrange than Crawford. FLFIRE did a good comparison between Crawford and Nismo headers in the Mod & Tech forum about 1-2 months back. Maybe a search is in order for you. BTW, both the Crawford and Nismo headers run close to $1200 a pair. The Nismo's are easier to install because they are shorter and take up less space than the Crawford (long legs).

Neff, so if the crawford is longer than nismo, does that mean that crawford header produces more HP than Nismo's?

Not to talk for the Neffster, But the Crawfords have the longest primary tubes 26"
More torque, Mid range power. That was my reason for installing them.

If she can afford it, and you know a good installer. Headers. IMO, the only ones worth considering are Crawford or Nismo. Contrary to what Vic said, they are not similiar. The Crawford's tubes are longer (about 26" I think) Nismos and others are something like 18". What separates the Nismos from the others is they try to keep the tubes equal length, and the collector design. Both the Crawford and the Nismo have superb collectors. The others do not. The nismos are stainless, the Crawfords are mild steel. The Crawfords are hand made, and stainless wouldn't work in the application. Therefore - Crawford, Higher output, not as durable and tougher install. Nismo, Good power and durable.
