Sheet metal thickness (G35c VS. 350Z)

I know the 350Z has fairly thin sheetmetal (many cars these days do, including my 2003 WRX). I was wondering if the G35c uses the same sheetmetal thickness (therefore, dents rather easily like the 350Z), or does it seem to be a little thicker ?

I would say it's the same. Not very resilliant to dents and dings.

I wonder tho. Lexus uses 2 gauge thicker steel than on the toyota siblings (14 vs 16 guage maybe?). I think the resistance is to hail, not dings and dents. In a storm my mitsu had hail dings, yet my lex survived without dings. I once worked at a Nissan/Volvo dealer, hail storm ruined every nissan body, all volvos were unscaved. Thicker by 2 gauge matters in the real world. Thicker steal also resists road noise and resonating. While raining, thicker steel won't "ping" as much.

How about give me some really thin sheet metal and let's see if we can save some weight?
