Has anyone raced a 6mt vs a 01 eclipse gt convertible. We just read about "street fights" at Bristol speedway dragstrip and I challenged my wife (eclipse is hers) to a drag.... it will be very embarassing if I lose. Street fight is legal 1/4 mile racing on the drag strip tues and thurs throughout the summer.Any car or motorcycle can enter. I think it 5 or 10 dollars a go. Can check it out at bristol motor speedway web site. Please tell me I will win this!!!

 

The G will eat an Eclipse GT for breakfast.

what would be the expected speed of the g at the end of the1/4? The article in the paper had a wrx at 98mph and a mustang (?svt- artcle didnt say) at 100. If I drive halfway decent can I approach these numbers?

 

You should have no problem killing the GT. Just run her in reverse so she has a chance.

Birddog: A question and then a response. First these drags are in Cali right? Where? I would love to take mine there. Second a comment. I have driven the GT Spyder and it was a pile, period. The G should do loops around it even if you can't drive that well. Also the best G35 Coupe quarter mile is about 14.2 at 100mph I believe. As long as you don't screw up too bad and turn the VDC OFF then you should rock and roll. Have fun. [img]/w3timages/icons/cool.gif[/img]

This is a Bristol Tenn. Its a Nascar track ("the worlds fastest 1/2 mile") and has a drag strip too. By the way , they also do a Richard Petty Driving school with busch series cars on the oval - get up to about 105mph a lap - really fun but much more expensive. I just found out about the street fights though.

also have to say that I hadnt driven her car in many months since getting the g and was suprised to find the other day that subjectively the spyder was pretty fast compared to the g and that I also thought the shifter was easier and more precise. Now the interior materials and build quality are a different story.. I hope there havent been any mitsu owners included in those knocking the g's interior.

What year is the car again? Its the Spyder version so it means it a conv. which means its slower. So you will win.

 

You must be friggen kidding to second guess the G. I have an eclipse GT (G delivered next month) and raced my buddy with a 350 G. Smoked me 2 car lengths to 60. Mine is stick and his is automatic. We were at a light and he asked if I wanted to race...I said no...... waited a second for him to turn his head.......then lit the tires up (almost a car length head start)....by the time I shifted into 2nd......he was already half a car length ahead of me!!! No worries

I just raced one of those today. Today the whole bay area seemed like one giant race scene. Kids were graduating and getting out of school early.

I ran into a very loud eclipse GT. thing wouldn't stop revving. I wanted to see if I could take it. Yup left it in the dust. Don't worry man I don't know what you did to your wife's eclipse, but if I beat one with exhaust and who knows what was under his hood, you can definetly take a stock one.

My cousin who use to own a modded Eclipse GT who had 220 out of the engine lost to a 6spd 02 Maxima in his car when that Max just came out. So for sure u can win.
