G35 5AT owners: Please help on Modding advices.

Sorry to make such threads with all these newbie questions..

but because I had such bad experiences with picking the right
ride for myself, I just want this one to be good.

I was wondering how are the Aftermarket parts availability for 5AT G35 in general?

I mean, I had 02 Accord V6, and there was no aftermarket for that.
So that sucked. I have 01 prelude h22a, and there are alot of parts,
but h22a really don't gain anything from mods unless you go really in depth.
I am really sick of honda now.

With this ride, I probably won't go really deep in terms of modding.
Just some intake, header/testpipe/exhaust, and ecu modding if
there are any available. Some 19s and a drop, thats about it.
From the research, we do gain reasonable amount of power from
bolt-ons, correct?

So any general thoughts, opinions or details, all appreciated.
Thank you fellow g35 owners.

P.S: From what I've researched, G35/350Z shares same parts right?
and that 6MT mods should pretty much work on 5AT? (just simple stuff, bolt-on components)

Why dont you check out "sponsors" link and see for yourself how many Modds are out there for your G?

ummmm.....define "reasonable"? intake, header/testpipe/exhaust for these bolt-ons? you are looking at 20~25 ish whp, not sure about the ECU reflashing tho.

well one of the quick mods you can get right away, that many of us have, is getting a 350Z intake tube and changing your intake filter.....thats one of the easier diy mods....or you can just get a full CAI system instead....

what carfanatic said and also a y-pipe and Plenum Spacer seems to produce good gains. Pretty much anything that works for the 03-04 6MT will work for the 5AT. The jury is still out on aftermarket gains for new 6MT's

All the mods you listed are available, and it sounds like there is enough mods around to keep you happy

Most350z parts will work on the G, but don't assume that all of them will.

Good luck, and let us know what you end up with

20~25whp for basic I/H/E sounds VERY reasonable to me.
Coming from prelude owner, we gain like 10whp with I/H/E.

Usually V6s gain more, which is good. Then again, parts are more
espensive, because of header"s" and dual muffler in this case..

I looked into the spacer, found only good reviews so I'll probably get that.

I was looking into Injen intake actually, because I can get them
at really good price.. but heard few complaints about
too much air going in, causing car to stall or not go above 80mph..
I heard heatshield around the filter will fix the problem, but I really
don't see the point of that, because thats basically eliminating
air flow..

Exhausts, I wanted Greddy Evo2, but thats something I would research more on.

Any more opinions greatly appreciated.
