Waxing the new G Coupe
Waxing the new G Coupe
How long should one wait before waxing a new car? I just purchased my G one week ago, and I'm considering waxing it up before I drive down to Southern California. I wanted to wait until AFTER I moved down there, but I couldn't pass up the deal. Once I move down there, this will essentially become my weekend driver, since I travel during the week. Here's what I'm concerned with by purchasing before the move:
1. Lots of bugs hit the front bumper during this week's business trip down to the Bay Area. Every day I drive over the bridge, bugs everywhere. These sat on the bumper for a week before being cleaned off.
2. The car could get super dirty while driving it 450 miles down to Orange County for my move.
Should I be concerned about these things? I mean, it's only been one week....

If I had my way I would've waxed at the dealership before I took it home.
Inside of two weeks I had a coat of sealer/glaze and two coats of Mother's on her.
I clean the bugs off my car before it goes in the garage every night. In the heat downn here in south Texas, they'll bake into the paint and etch the finish in no time. It only takes me a couple of minutes with water and a microfiber and I'm done.
No matter where you are, I wouldn't let bugs stay on the car any longer than necessary. Some of the little bastiches are acidic and will etch your clear coat. Sometimes the damage is permanent. Even when we travel I debug the car at the end of the day's driving.
An ounce of prevention and all that..

Let me ask you guys this I am thinking of waxing my car this weekend and have a clear bra on my front. So, I was wondering if waxing this area would damage it. I asume it would be just want to make sure. I'm sorry this is a newb question but I have never waxed a car before and just don't know.
It might depend on the type of clear bra you have. I got Venture Sheild and they reccomend adding a wax over my clear bra. I would contact the manufacturer (3M, Venture Sheild, Llumar, Xpel, or whatever you have) to see what their reccomendations are.
