HELP!!!(2005 6MT Owners!)
OK, after a long dilema which included my dealer (asses) and my area (sh*thole) I have come crawing back to you guys for help....
Question: How do I remove the shifter pannel (or the center council) on my 05 6mt coupe. I need to install a short shifter, and the directions they give is for an 04, since they changed the council since then, I need new directions.
PLEASE! if you guys can get a local technition or perhaps your dealer would be kind enough to show you how to remove it and get to the guide plate, etc... thanks so much for your replys

oh come on...anyone??
the part with the shifter boot is separet...like a seperate circle which *i think* can be pulled out...the rest of the council remains intact....(again, just an aobservation...) as for pics, here are a few, i am sure you can find closer ones on infiniti's website, or g35driver

As you can see, the shifter pannel is not in one whole piece as it is on the previous models...

It's not too hard to take it off.. I just did it yesterday. You need a flat-head screwdriver, some tape, rubber hosing (something to put on the shift **** and the shifter), and two clamps/wrenches.
Put some tape on the edge of the flat-head so you won't damage the middle rubber or the actual housing. Slide the screwdriver between the aluminum housing and the rubber. Wedge the screwdriver gently up and you'll feel a slight pop. There's two on the front and two by the top. Remove the two clips that wire the housing. Then you put the piece of rubber hosing around the shifter (there should be a shiny black rubber piece there.. put the rubber hosing around it). Then clamp the wrench around that. Put another rubber hosing piece around the shift ****, clamp the wrench around it, then holding the bottom wrench firm, turn the wrench counter-clockwise. It's on pretty tight and I think there's adhesive on the bottom of the ****. You'll slowly get the **** off.. Hope this all makes sense lol.. the instruction manual came with the shift ****.
Here's a pic of my new Nismo titanium ****:
