Hi All,

Long time lurker here. I've been admiring the G. Getting closer to getting one...probably the next model year. I went and test drove a 2005 6mt today. Great car! It felt a lot like my friends 330ci as far as suspension response.

On the dash, in the tach I beleive, there was an illuminated spot that read "REV". I asked my salesman, and he said it was a transmission setting. Anyone know anymore about this?

 

The REV is your the shift light. You can set your shift light at, say, 4000 rpm and at 3,500 the shift light (a little red rectangle) will start blinking above that amber REV and at 4000 it will turn solid. You can set the shift light at w/e rpm you like.

So the "REV" stays on all the time? This one did.

Yes, the REV stays on all the time and cannot be turned off, only the shift light above it comes on when you approach the rpm it was set to come on at.

And sorry about misleading you, as I was driving tonight I noticed the shift light actually comes on underneath the REV letters.. goes to show mine's set at 8000 rpm and never comes on
