Putting the G on the streets [56k warning]

A little story first.

I live in the city and the only way to get a parking spot is through valet without the worries of 1 -2 hour wait/search time and metermaids. The garage light is the worst to spot any scratches and this time, i blame myself for not taking a real good look before I pulled out. I was in a rush to get to our weekend getaway since the woman already took her time getting ready.

I draw the line on this one after many different small accounts of scratches. The answer is yes, I did bring it up to management everytime, and nothing happens. Its already out of the garage and its on the streets now.

Well here's the picture

Any suggestions to repair this?

Did it do any damage to the paint? If not I'm sure you can get a shop to cut some 3M clear bra material just like that and replace it.

Man that sucks, I know I'm very hesitant to bring my car into the city and even more so to park it in a garage/lot because I know the attendants and owners could give a **** about the ride.

Unless your car is 80k or higher they treat it like junk and even then you still have to worry!!

Wow, 2nd thread posting damage to that plastic. And I thought that film was there for nothing. Just replace them (all since I think 3M or any other brand of film is thinner).

Some of the paint got stripped. I don't think the dealers have the touch up paint for both new 05 colors yet. I have to call them up to check. I'm still cursing myself but I just saved 350 bucks a month.

I think coupin827 is right about expensive cars in valet. A doctor has a Murciélago and 911 turbo there ... dustless and scratchless with the exceptions of rock chips.

It did became an inconvenience for the woman and I since we already argue about silly stuff. But she understands and just as mad.

You might first try some polish or paint cleaner to rub off the excess paint from the other car. Menzerna's Intensive polish os good for surface scratches and scuffs. You might also try Mguires paint cleaner. Since it mainly got the 3M coating, it may not be as bad as it looks in the pictures.

I have my car valet parked every morning. Might I suggest you perform a walk around and have the valet attendant note the condition of your car.

My garage always performs a "walk around," prior to handing me my ticket. The ticket always notes the condition of the car. In my case my ticket is always mark, "Clean."

I just about always chat with my attendant(s) in the morning, as I finish my cup of coffee. I usually spend a few minutes in the afternoon and shoot the breeze with the manager, as well. A monetary tip once in awhile helps. LOL . . . It keeps my G indoors on the first floor next to the booth.

This has been my same routine for my previous Bimmers. My new G deserves just as much attention.

I really think they could careless about the monetary tip since I do tip them fairly. Also, I've always chit chat with them as much as I can.

I know one attendant was upset when I told him I'm putting the car on the streets.

My mistake is not walking around with the attendant before and after since I got to know them pretty well ... my mistake there.

You live and learn.

Yeah, this is no big deal, 20 bucks at your infiniti dealer. That is basically a sticker they put on to protect the paint in that area because it is damage prone. It sticks out and rocks hit there all the time. Just bring it in and get a new sticker to replace it.
