Wait for 06 or order 05 now?
Wait for 06 or order 05 now?
All I want is the base model, 6MT IP Coupe, and there are only 4 in the states, all in the east coast (I live in TX). I have the option to order it and wait 2-3 months, or should I just suck it up and wait another few months and get the 06's?
The saleslady has no idea when the 06's will come in since Infiniti tries to sell their 05's before shipping 06's (is this true?). She also said typically they will come in november, but I am not sure if this is accurate.
So my other question is: What will be the differences between 06 and 05? Is it worth the wait? If there will be projector headlights, that is def worth the wait. Please advise, I think the sales manager is annoyed with me for changing my mind back and forth so many times by now!!
Thanks in advance.

Well, nobody knows much about the 06's yet, but that info should be coming available fairly soon. Only you can decide if you want to wait...I would probably at least wait until I hear what they are upgrading in the 06's before I would make a decision. You said you only wanted a base model, but then you said you wanted the 6MT--which are two completely different things. The 6MT has a lot more upgraded stuff than the base model and is also more $$$. Anyway, if you dont think you can wait, go for an 05 (probably get a better deal on one anway, but you may have to wait a little bit longer), but if can wait or want to know what they are doing to the 06's, well, then wait. Its your call--only you know!

Actually, when I said 'BASE' model, i meant the 6MT, with no added features or packages. Sorry about that misunderstanding.
another thing, I have the VPP pricing so the prices will always be the same for me.

Based on what Infiniti has done in previous years, the 6MT's won't be released before December and most people won't get their orders before January. It's very possible that the '06 will be the last year of this generation G35, so might as well enjoy it while it's still a hot car. I would be more bummed out to buy a car that will get redesigned in less than a year after I bought it, than miss out on some projectors that I can retrofit anyway. If I were you, I'd get the car right now and enjoy it, but it depends on how badly you want/need the car. If you drive a ton and care about depreciation a lot, you might be better off holding out for the 06. But that's just my two bits.
I'm in your exact same situation, I want the same car and I have VPP. I am leaning more towards waiting b/c I don't need a new car right this second. Plus, it gives me more time to save and put more down on the car. Since I have VPP I know I can get the 06 at a set price, and the dealers wont be discounting the '06's when they first have them avail. to regular customers. So i'll be getting a deal on the '06. The 05's are going to be discounted now with dealers trying to get them off the lots. So unless I can get an amaizing deal I think i'll wait and get the newest model. Its only 3-4 months....
Well look at it this way, determine what other cars are you looking at. if you're already set on the G35 i'd wait and see what's new for the 06 and pre-order if you can wait until atleast january. i ordered my 2005 a couple months back, Athens blue 6MT with premium and aero package. decided that the changes to the 06 were not worth the wait for me and the other cars i was lookin at did not offer as much. it'll be here by the end of august. it takes 45 days to ship the car, and however long to actually build it. just givin you the heads up if you order. this time of year isnt really the best to buy unless you're looking for a good deal. i'd like to see what other manufacturers are coming out with for the 06 model yr

Make sure your dealer will honor the VPP, not all do, and some say yes, then no when the car comes...(from personal experience).

SGT: VPP is the Vehicle Purchase Plan that you can get through your employer if they share a partnership with Infiniti in some way. Gives you the car for around Invoice price.
Another cool thing that i found out about VPP is that you can apply it to used cars as well. The dealer can give you a used car on their lot for the price they paid for it...I need to check and see if this is worth it b/c I know Infiniti's do not depreciate very fast.

I just placed the order today! IP 6MT coupe, with NOTHING else on it. I plan to put aftermarket navi, thats about it. I put 2k down deposit on my CC, and the rest will be in cash. I will let you guys know when my big day arrives!
BTW: does anyone know any places in Austin that will do custom install for navi?

yea, but I have to pay the shipping costs which isn't worth it for me. It's not like I need the car right away anyways. So I don't mind ordering and getting what I want and having to wait a few months.
