The other night i was driving aggressivley in my 04 6mt coupe and i couldnt get it in to 5th gear, i tried a few times and i couldnt do it. i had to wait till the rpms droped. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? what could it be? someone told me that it could be my synchos??? im taking my car in for the first oil change on monday and im going to have them check it out. hopefully its an easy fix... i mean its a brand new car with only 3000 miles on it and i really did take it easy during the break in period.

I know that some 04 350z'z have been having bad problems with 5th gear and we have the same transmission.

 

same thing just happened to me. its an older car, 04 6mt with 26k miles on it. everyime i put it in 5th it grinds very loudly. and i have to jam it into place. im going to the dealer on tuesday. i went to a tranny shop and they said it sounded like the 5th gear syncro's are messed up.

 

we been repalcing new transmissions on the 04 coupes because of this problem. take it to your local dealer.....

 

Ive been having the same problem with the 5th gear and now recently in 2nd as well. I had my clutch changed to an aftermarket one after the first one wore out at 16K. So i dont want to take it back to the dealership until i put the old worn out one back in.
