Re: HAS ANYONE INSTALLED A JET CHIP?

Supposedly there's an Infiniti chip that will be out in early Oct that my salesman said will give another 40hp or so. He told me this AFTER I bought the car, he called me up to let me know. So this leads me to believe he's telling the truth.

Anyone else hear this?

Re: HAS ANYONE INSTALLED A JET CHIP?

40 more ponies over 280 on an all but stock (I assume) G35c from ECU tuning? I find that very hard to believe.

Look at it this way, the coupe cranks out 30 more ponies than the sedan and from what I gathered from infiniti tech its becouse of a more aggressive ECU program, the intake to head track has been port and polished, and the coupes exhaust system is less restrictive. All this helps it crank out another 30 ponies and it makes sense. Now to think just by swapping the oem ECU program with another to gain another 40 more ponies, well in my opnion that exceeds the cars capabilities in STOCK form with a stock intake, stock exhaust and whatnot.

I'm sure Infiniti could have cranked out an extra 10, or even 20 more ponies by really fueling up the G with a radical power curve mapped out on to the ECU, but I'm sure they kept things within the limit of the car and your everyday driver.

This is where the aftermarket tuners come into play and remap the curve with a little more "umf", but once again to claim 40 more ponies, that seems a bit much, unless they offered an intake and exhaust system with the chip.

Thats just my 2 cents and from what I have experienced in working in the aftermarket performance field for the past 10 years.

Re: HAS ANYONE INSTALLED A JET CHIP?

OK, I just called a friend of mine who use to work for Jet (trans dept) and he made some calls for me and this is what he found out about the Jet Chip. First, right off the bat - there is no actual "chip". Your computer needs to be removed from your car, shipped to Jet and they reprogram it there for a fee of $499. Turn around is no longer than 24hrs once they get the computer and they claim a 12 to 16 HP increase at the REAR WHEELS and its done by basically "streching" the injector pulse and giving it a more agreesive timing curve as well as increasing the redline approx 1500 RPM. This in return transalates into better mid to high RPM performance.

Now like I said, I'm sure this was something Infiniti could have done too, but think about it, there's only so much you can "stretch" these values and bump up the timing before you start running into serious fuel and ignition problems, and I'm sure Jet as bumped it to the max or close to the max to offer us the best bang for our buck, so once again I have to say, 40 more ponies from just an ECU upgrade, don't get your hopes up...

Stock 6600RPMS + 1500RPMS increase = 8100RPMS

I think the VQ engine will blow up before it hits an 8100RPM redline, if not seriously reduce the overall engine life.

the only way something can void your warranty is if it can be proven that it caused the problem

now when the VQ blows up because you're revving it to 8100 rpm's...

Jet are know to really bring it to the max and often people have seen their engine starting to heat after the ecu upgrade.
