My 05 A/T Coupe makes vibrating/creaking noises when I first start up the car, reverse out of the driveway, and make a turn.

The owner's manual says the car makes a clunking noise and lights up the SLIP indicator when the VDC activates, but so far I haven't seen the SLIP light up and I find it hard to believe I'm only using the VDC upon startup.

Also, after driving, there is crackling noise coming from the catalytic converter. I'm sure it's from the honeycomb inside the cat, but I've never heard it this loud or frequent. Maybe it's just because it's a brand new car and I've never owned a brand new car before.

 

Someone should sticky a thread titled "the first 2-8 seconds of driving will yield a vibrating/grinding/weird noise due to abs self-testing." We get this question once a week.

 

The lights and creaking sound normal to me bro.

I think I may have an answer for you. My coupe was rattling around the cat area (at least I figured that's where it was coming from) for a while. It was especially noticeable when the car shifted gears at low rpms. Went to the dealer to get other items fixed and complained about it. Wasn't sure what to expect but they told me that the exhaust shield was lose and it needed to be resecured.

Problems solved for me. Hope it works out for you.

 

I'll look into that thanks. I'll probably mention the sound and have them take a look. Better safe than sorry.
