Gas Tank Difficult To Fill?

If this has been posted before, I apologize . . . If not, great! For those whom are having a difficult time filling up their gas tanks, there is a Technical Service Bulletin no. 05031, dated June 14, 2005. I got tired of spending 15 minutes filling up my G with gas. I searched around and found the said TSB. Actually, the service advisor was surprised that I had information with regard to the TSB. They offered to fix the issue with no resistance.

I trust that the above info will help others resolve their gas station adventures, as well.

Oh, the service tech, also said that the same applies to the '03 and '04 G models, as well.

IF YOU CONFIRM The fuel tank is intermittently difficult to fill. ACTION Replace the shutter valve inside of the fuel tank. See this bulletin for further detail.

Dropped the car off at the dealer this afternoon. They are going to replace shutter valve, which is located inside the fuel tank. This will hopefully afford me the luxury of filling up the gas tank in one shot without the station pump clicking off every few seconds.

Hehehe . . . Getting my free first oil service, as well.

Quick temporary solution, before u decide to take it to the dealership, is to insert the pump gun in the hole, and swing the bottom part towards the left about 45 to 90 degrees . Start pumpin' away! sounds sick doesn't it?

I just started having the same problem. It happened twice at two different gas stations, never did it for the first month or so I've owned the car. I fill up about 3 times a week, so it can get really annoying. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I've had my G for about six weeks now and my only disappointment has been the difficulty in filling up the tank.

I had the same issue with mine, and this is what I do... for some reason, it's only when the engine is still cold, after driving a few miles, I never have any issues. So now obviously, I just fill up further away from home, or when I have been on the road for a bit. Anyone notice this too?

Okay . . . Went and picked up my G a couple of hours ago. A new shutter valve was installed to replace the faulty one, per the Technical Service Bulletin. I drove over to the Chevron Station to fill my car up. The pump pumped in about 12 gallons at full speed without one stop. YES!!!!! . . . It worked.

That was the first time ever that I was able to fill the gas tank without it stopping before the tank was full. I trust that everyone experiencing the same difficulty will find this to be a definitive fix. Good luck!
