Coming home and met up with a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Collectors Edition ....

First, I have to say that I do not race my car on the street or drive recklessly, but sometimes, we all have a little urge to give gas at times. All people that have nothing good to say, please stop reading now..thank you

So, I'm driving home, in the left lane and I notice a newer yellow transam in the middle lane coming up. As I was minding my own business passing him, he speeds up and gets next to me and starts to go/slowdown. Well, he then punched it and after a few seconds, I was like, what he hell. So, I downshift and punch it. I catch up to him after a few seconds, and kept on passing him. We shut if off at around 125. I proceed to go home, now in the middle lane, as he gets to my left. As I look over, I get a better look at this car, it was yellow, black Ttop, black rims and the trans am bird pin striped on the hood and it had that huge dual ram air intakes on the hood. This guy had his girlfriend or wife with him, and I was alone. We decide to go at it again, from a 65mph roll, I was in third, we punch it on his third honk. NO ****, but my third gear pulls hard as hell and I got a quick half a car on him. From there I am inching away from him and as we hit 130mph I was a good 1 1/2 maybe 2 cars ahead. I got off on my exit and so does he. He looked at me SO surprised and asked if it was supercharged/turbo'd, I told him NO, just bolt ons, he said the car is nice and fast and gave a thumbs up. I asked what type of car he had, he said a 2002 Trams Am Anniversary edition, 6spd. As I glance over, his woman is checking out the G!! I get home and do research on this car, the damn thing has the WS6 engine, 5.7l V8, 325hp, 350lb torque....NOW, I'm one happy G owner. Oh, by the way, my shifting was flawless, I banged out the gears and noticed that's where I started to pull on him. THE END

Normally I wouldnt quite believe you pulled 2 cars on aWS6 but im not calling you a liar. Im not sure of the weight on those but i know their pretty mean. Interiors on them are really ulgy though, which is what kept me far away from buying one

I get home and do research on this car, the damn thing has the WS6 engine,
WS6 was not an engine, it was an option package, which included Ram Air induction, different wheels and exhaust, among other things. The engine is an LS1, which was also used in the Corvette and Camaro Z28. In the Corvette the engine produced 350hp, but produced less in the Trans Am and Z28 due to manifold and tuning differences, although it was more likely due to making sure GM's flagship sports car had more power than the less expensive Trans Am and Z28.

I believe the story, if the Trans Am he raced was an automatic. The car was relatively heavy at about 3,500-3,600 lbs., and the automatic version was considerably slower than the 6 speed. If it was a 6 speed he raced, and it indeed had the WS6 package, then there is no way he would have beat one with a bolt-ons G35 unless he completely bungled every shift.

the guy was definitely 6spd, came right out of his mouth...also keep in mind that he had a passenger with him, another 150+ pounds..im definitely not saying that I destroyed this guy, but I was ahead the whole time, we started at 65mph and end just past 125 or 130, I was definitely surprised that my car still had pull at speeds that high...also, like I said before, my shifting is what edged me out, im not sure at what rpms he shifts, but I noticed that when I shifted, I gained very little on him, so I'm guessing my shifts were faster...

I'll just drive around with a camera in my car from now, then I'll post vid clips. Anybody go to the my350z forums. There is a guy there by the name of Alberto that has a 03 350z with bolt on mods that is running 13.1 1/4 mile runs and has a few vids of him racing a STI and beating the damn thing from any rolling start. If you look closely, this guy has mastered the art of shifting. The guy pulls on E46 M3s all day. As long as you have a car that can somewhat perform, the rest is up to the driver.

I see how you say that it is hard to believe, but all I'm saying is that it happened, and YES to a WS6 package. Also, even before any one of our shifts, when the cars were just going at it, engine vs. engine, he did not catch up and I inched away. These are the facts. The guy at the exit was a cool guy and he was shock as hell.

By the way, if I had bought my s2000 before I got the G35, I DEFINITELY would've bought a Z06, one of my fav's. Can't beat the performance for the money.

that doesn't surprise me that much that you pulled at highway speed roll. Off the line, he would have definitely destroyed you. My friend has a 02 Trans Am WS6 with headers, exhaust, high flow cats, and other NA goodies. Fastest car out of all my friends. The LS1 is a torquey beast. If they still made trans ams i wouldve gotten one. job well done with the driving

It's hard to believe, but anything is possible, afterall if we always knew what car was going to win, what would the fun be in that, good job.

nice race. I love my car too.

And for those that would want to buy a trans am over a G, sell your car immediately...you don't deserve her and she doesn't deserve having to sit next to your trailer daily.
