The Z tube is not the problem it's the pop charger soaking in all that heat from your engine bay. That heat shield it comes with won't do you any good specially in very hot weather. Put your original airbox on and drop a K&N filter it will breath better.

Right on. We have had a number of people in our Florida club drop the pop charger and go back to stock due to the heat soak and air induction location. Performance was clearly better with the stock airbox.

I have the stillen airbox and I also agree that there is alot of heatsoak. After some time driving and the engine bay is toasty, there is a noticable loss in power. (the tires barley chirp going into 2nd) :-) When the engine bay is still fairly cool, it'll hit the tires hard going into 2nd.

From my experimenting, I couldn't do any better than the OEM filter housing, with the K&N, and the Z-tube.
I didn't try the Stillen air box, that may be better than OEM.

So is the right warm/hot weather combo the stock air box/k&n filter with the z-tube (or non stock intake)? Is the stillen airbox/k&n a better alternative?

Wow.. if you can actually feel a loss in power, then it should be significant. Does anyone have any ideas on how much rwhp is lost? 10+?

I never knew that (I thought that the heat shield provided will be able to prevent heat soak). You just saved me $$$. I have another question. Do you think that the Z-tube/ K&N combo will be able to support 280-300 WHP (my goal with this car)? Does this combo show a noticable gain on the dyno? Thanks!

notice how my car's motor is bone stock...

stock is a good thing when you consider the huge temperature changes like here
in chicago... typical temps my cars sees is between 10F to 101F (today on
my temp guage). with the AC on, I was still enjoying the smooth V6 power.

It's not a civic, just leave the motor/exhaust stock unless you're going for the noise or the huge numbers in gain (FI).

I like my PC ...and isn't the purpose of the heatshield to block the heat? ... i actually felt a gain in power after i put my Ztube and PC.... very little .. probably negligible on a DYNO ... but still ...

Not if the popcharger is sufficiently isolated. I'm working on an aluminum shroud that finishes off the pop charger. But I'm convinced that the larger conical filter works much more efficiently in bringing loads of air into the engine over the flat filter.

And no, my name is not Bruce or Pinky and no, I don't like ****.

LOL, let me know how the shroud goes....

You know that the stillen air box has a conical filter inside right?

To all my Florida G's which would you suggest?
1) Z tube & K&N filter
2) Nismo CAI
3) stillen box with cone filter

Many thanks for the opinions - I already know POP charger is out of the equation. :-D
