Gas Tank/Fuel Gauge and Service Bulletin 05031

Has anyone had this done and did they complete it successfully without screwing up your back seat or anything else? Any fuel smell afterward? Did you take it in with an empty tank? Any problems after the fix?

Had this particular TSB fixed last week. It was a definitive fix. No problems thus far nor do I anticipate any. Service tech asked that the gas tank be about 1/4 full. He said that it would be easier for him to drain and refill. I had a 1/2 tank of gas in my G. I told him I was sorry about the fuel level, but I told him he could put my fuel into his car . . . Just get it fixed!!!!!

The above referenced TSB is with regard to having difficulties filling the gas tank up. If the gas nozzle constantly clicks off, as you are attempting to fill you gas tank . . . This is the fix. The dealer will replace the existing shutter valve, which is faulty. I had this fix performed and it fixed the problem. I can now fill up my gas tank without having to wait forever to do so, as the gas nozzle delivers the fuel in one single delivery.

Also, my fuel gauge registers empty and the warning light comes on but the most gas it will ever take is about 13 gallons. If I work at it, I can get it all the way full. Will this fix also take care of this or is this the gauge sending unit or something else? I've asked the dealer about it and they said they've only had three or so with this problem however I find it hard to believe since I read so many complaints about it here.

With regard to the TSB referenced #05031, it just simply deals with the replacement of the existing faulty shutter valve, located in the fuel, as I was told. Your other issue should be fixed under warranty, regardless of the number of related incidents which your dealer has heard about.

If you have a difficult time filling your tank due to the shutter valve issue . . . Have it changed now. That may or may not be related to your other issues(s). Just a thought. Good luck!
