Last night, I was showing off the Nav system to my date with the voice instructions on. Near my apartment, it said something really funny. It said, in a very polite voice: "Please make an illegal U-turn at the next intersection, if possible." I was LMAO!!! [img]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/img] I couldn't believe my ears [img]/w3timages/icons/shocked.gif[/img]. The only thing that would have been funnier is if it said "if there are no cops around" instead of "if possible".

I don't know why it said this, as I was still on course to my apartment, and I also don't know how it knew it was an "illegal" U-turn. Maybe it was a glitch? Maybe the car didn't like my date and wanted to dump her? Maybe the car didn't want to go home and drive some more? But it was funny as hell. That almost made it worth the $2k right there.

Has anyone else heard this before?

hey man are u sure it said an illegal u turn. cause when i was driving a seadan at the delear it always said make a legal u turn.

 

As koduka has repeatedly insisted, I'm 99% confident that she's saying "a legal u-turn" and not "illegal u-turn." I'm still not sure what she finds so amusing about "at the end of the road" though.

Yeah, it's "please make a legal u-turn, if possible." Because it knows you need to go the other way, but it's street data isn't detailed enough to know where u-turns are legal and where they aren't.

Although, mine did guide me down the street to a T-intersection and ask me to turn left where the sign clearly stated "right turn only" and the median in the middle of the street would have done wonders for my suspension. (The area did seem to be under the late stages of construction though -- probably a new median.)

I think you'll find 'she' said legal u-turn. Mine has said that on occasion. I'm not saying you're wrong, but sometimes it's a little hard to catch all the dialogue.
