preview pics: Check out my new Infiniti shift **** for 5AT
Some of you will quickly figure out which car this shift **** came from. At least it's still an Infiniti. I originally wanted to go with the Momo AT ****, but it was over $100. This setup cost $90 something I think.
I have a 2003 5AT, and that stock shifter is pretty fugly with the button on the side.
I had to dremel some pieces, but the **** fits now. It retains the stock securing mechanism (that metal clip), so it doesn't move around once secured. The shifter is engaged by pushing in the button as it was originally designed.
I still have to secure the shift boot, but I'm going to do that after my exams this week.
I'm probably going to have to bend the rectangular wire frame a bit on the shift boot to match up better with the stock circular piece.

So far, I've only put an hour into it, just to get the **** to fit and function correctly.
The boot is not glued on. It's actually sitting on my desk right now, I just put it there to give an idea of what the final mod will look like.
If I can find a trim ring for the boot, I'll use it, but I don't think I'll find one with the right dimensions. I'm going to work on reshaping the boot, so it's shorter and will sit flush with the front and back of the circular silver piece.
Thanks Tinman, hopefully I can make it out to the Chino Hills GTG one day.

Wow i really like it. I want to do something like this to my 04 as well. I love the leather boot look. I hate how it looks with the cheap black gridded piece showing.
I'd be interested in doing something like this that would cover the entire circle peice though, since it looks kinda weird with the silver circle still there.

Sweet, you get points for originality
The Maxima shifter doesn't look too bad either
