You need to take the suction cups off the metal bracket. Then you'll need to slowly and carefully bend the bracket so that the tongue that slides on to the top of the solo2 is parallel to the car although the bracket comes down at an angle. If you don't do this, then your detector will be facing the right front tire. I found the best way to do this was to be inside the car, and slide the bracket into the radar mount w/o screwing it and position the radar mount so you can get an idea of how much you have to bend. Then bend with a towel wraped around the tongue using channel locks. Once you have it bent, then slide the bracket through the slot on the bottom of the plastic and tighten the screws. Next, secure the radar mount on the RVM stem. Get the acorn nut screws reasonably tight by hand, but not really tight because you may have to take it off to rebend the tongue if the detector isn't flat and straight.
Lastly, slide the solo2 on the tongue as best as possible, then fit your finger behind the RVM, depress the tongue release button and slide the solo2 in the rest of the way. Check to see how flat and straight the detector is. The tolerance is close but you can get it so that when the solo2 sits flat (level to the ground) that the top of it is just touching the bottom of the RVM. Check for straightness (parallelness to the car). If good then tighten the acorn nuts to firmly secure the mount to the RVM stem. The best way I found to do it is this is to get a socket (but not the wrench), and place the socket over the acorn nut and turn the socket by hand. The socket gives you more gripping area to turn.
Repeat the procedure until you have the mount the way you want it.
Good luck.

Luv2drivemyg35 gave a very good explanation on how to set up the mount. I think that's exactly how I did it except I didn't use tools. I'm going to go tighten the nuts right now with a socket since that was a good idea
Just do a search for "mike radar mount" on my350z.com/forum and it should come up. He makes custom radar mounts for Zs and Gs and sells them for 20$ via paypal.
