From past threads ive seen on the subject it is a LONG and detailed process that involves taking apart your dash and doing alot of rewiring to get it built in. Do some searches and you should find some instructions and hardware to get.
I personally went with the following and im VERY happy with it:
http://www.kensington.com/html/5675.html
It got awesome ratings and its SOOO easy. All you do is plug it in and VOILA. it charges and plays your music at the same time. It also is so powerful of a transmitter that last weekend my friends in the car behind me were picking up my music perfectly.
It has a nice feature where it doesnt use the voule from the Ipod so you cant accidentally blow your speakers but turning it up too loud.

I also have the same Kensington Digital Transmitter and am pleased with its performance in the G......with the Bose system, it sounds fine....almost cd quality. However, in my other vehicles, I have much better sound systems and playing music from my Ipod through the Kensington is ok.....I'll need to get a hardwire solution for those.

Sionce he doesnt have a tape deck then thats out of the question. Tapping into the SAT plug is great(i personally dont have that button) if you can find someone to do the work or if you are comfortable enough to do it yourself.
good luck.
