Maaaaan. Damn.. Rim damage (with pics!)

My right rear rim had a nice little get together with a curb today. Notice the bits of yellow paint within the scar.. sigh.

Can I get this buffed out, and repainted without taking the wheel off the car?

I did the same thing last week! I thought for sure it was going to be my wife doing it....but it was me. I was tired and misjudged the curb. those rims are VERY VERY soft.

I'm sure since its such soft metal they can be cleaned up easily.

Ahh, that's nothing. Mine looks only slightly worse:
my rim

Seriously though, I think you have a good chance of fixing it easily.

Here is another one. Lookin at it from further away, it doesn't look as bad as the close ups. Funny thing is I saw another G35c on the road today. Got next to him in traffic. Said "nice car" kinda just making a joke. Told him how pissed I was about how I just curbed my car. He had a big dent on his rear lower panel. I asked how he got it.. said he backed into a parking post.. Ouch.

Gotta admit it made me feel better though.

Cool. How much do you estimate? Not that it's a huge deal, but will they have to take the wheel off?

I did the same thing the 3rd day I had the car. Same wheel. Almost the same kind of damage (minus the yellow). Called my "sales consultant" and he recommended a guy who does wheel repair. The guy met me at the dealership the following Saturday and did the repair in the parking lot in back, with the wheel on the car. It took him 20 minutes and cost me $60. If you didn't know where to look you would never guess anything had ever happened.

When I owned my 996 I had minor wheel repairs like the one you need made right on the dealer's lot. Call your dealer and ask them if they know of anyone. I know that the BMW and Porsche dealers in my area have a guy who visits their lots regularly to repair scuffed wheels. If the Infiniti dealer doesn't know of anyone, call your local Porsche dealer, and ask them who they use.
