Installing protectors in front of rear wheel well

My car was grazed by another car in a parking lot...thankfully, it only grazed the plastic protector so I peeled it off and picked up a replacement. Now the question is, how the hell do I put it on? I've tried and failed once already...so there goes 9 bucks, and I'll have to try again. It was nearly impossible to put it on without bubbles, and it's so sticky that you you can't redo a section if catch a bubble in it.

Use soapy water before you put it on so you can move it to the perfect location and a squeegee to get out the bubbles.

Where did you get the replacement? The same thing happened to me. I tried to peel it off and it left a nasty residue on the paint. How do I remove this ugly residue?

I used goo-gone and then used an orbital buffer. Full story here - https://g35driver.com/forums/canada/62039-my-porter-cable-just-paid-itself.html Infiniti dealership stocks it.

Hmm how soapy should it be? Suds or just a little bit of soap?

In a 1 ounce spray bottle, mix water with 3 large drops of baby shampoo. This will make a good "slip" formula. Make sure you clean the area first with an alcohol/water solution (3 parts water/2 parts 70% Isopropyl Rubbing alcohol).

you can use just an alcohol mixture in a spray bottle and then squeegee the liquid out from under it. it will be harder to move around though. It helps to use a hard teflon or plastic squeegee wedge instead of a soft rubber squeegee like you would use on your windows.

I was thinking of using a silicon spatula...works great on cleaning out brownie batter from the mixing bowl to eat.

you don't need SUDS like you're washing you car, you need enough so it's slippery. But make sure it's clean underneath! No dirt or other impurities under the plastic.

if you have a dark car I recommend cheeze cloth wrapped around your
squeegee. that film swirls pretty easily...even with your finger tips.

btw, if you ever need to handle the adhesive side, make sure your fingers are
completely soaked in the soapy solution...otherwise you'll ruin it by permanently
putting finger prints on it.

Yeah, I ruined my first attempt several ways - the fingerprints were one of the ways.
