Back Window Tint Remove Or Leave?
Hi Guys, thanks to all that responed to my last post, i had the tint done yesterday and the guy swore to me that the top part of the tint near and on the dots would stick, because the smeared some stick glue, almost the type kids use in school, this one was purple in color then he applyed it to the dots, then put on tint then squeezed it out and looked good when i left and now i see a small white haze in the middle and i dont care about the $ i was wondering if its poss to take off tint on a rear window without messing up my defrost and how is it done and what is the safest way to take off tint from a back window? i went to light anyway just because i dont wana have problems with cops and i wanted to the car to have a classy look not a young kid look, since its a pearl dark tint to me doesnt look good to me and i have had 10 cars tinted, i think i should of stuck this one out. any help? thanks.
The dot matrix is basically made up of dots on the glass itself. If the installer didn't do a good job to sand down the dots or add a vinyl strip to hide the them, the dots will raise the film from the glass. What you're seeing is the film not sticking to the glass in between each dot and creating an air pocket. It's very obvious with darker tints. Once all the water bubbles dries and the film is still not making contact with the glass in between the dots, that's how it will remain since the glue will dry itself out. What you can try to do now is take a slight damp rag and a credit card to try and press the film onto the glass to get the water out around the dot matrix. Do this while the tint is curing/drying because after it dries, there's no way to get it to stick. If that doesn't work, I would take it back to the shop and have them redo it. This time ask to have the dot matrix sanded down or a piece of vinyl added.
If you've really had 10 cars tinted, you should know by now that the white haze is normal in the first couple of days. I had it too. Let it dry first.

Ill try the damp rag and try to push some of the water out. it doesnt look like there is water in the tint, and i have had only one car that had dot matrix and it was a honda accord and that sucked *****. i can tell if the tint doesnt stick, that you will see a white haze spot where its not sticking. ill wait a few days. but nobody answerd my question, can it be removed without messing up the rear defrost and how is it done?
If your tint needs to be redone, the shop can remove it for you. They peel it off but the glue might remain so they take a scrubbing pad and scrub it off with a solution they have. This is mainly for the rear window with the defrost lines. For the side windows, they can use a razor to remove the glue. Don't try to remove it yourself as it might void any warranty and would be more work for you.
it's glue man....how else would it stick??? If you really wanna remove it yourself, just get one of those steam irons and a razor blade a peel away slowly...clean the rest up with goo-gone.

I had them remove the tint where the dot matrix was. I'm planning on taping that area off very well and paint it black from the inside. The outside will look glossy because of the glass, I just hope to apply the spray by very light coats.
